    2 problems any solutions?

first one is I am doing maint, just finished the front cv's 2 weeks ago, now I replaced plugs, wires, oil, trans fluid and tried to replace both belts for the supercharger and the accessories. I got the acc belt on but the gatorback 4060660 which I was told is the stock 66.0 length my car takes will not go on for the life of me. Never in my life have I had trouble doing simple maint on a car till this one lol. My other problem is entirely different but the horn will randomly honk on rare occasions while driving, I thought maybe a clock spring problem but it doesn't do it when turning just driving down the highway once in a blue moon. Anyone else ever have this problem? I had a lighting issue before and had to replace the ignition harness but it did it once or twice before that as well. It is so rare I really just keep putting off looking at it but it is still annoying as you could imagine.

To add the car is 100% stock except for the 180 thermostat, and a direct cold air system. still running a 3.8pulley so the belt would be stock length down to 3.4 from what I can tell. 2001 grand prix gtp

its tight but it should go. put it around the s/c pulley last. get 2 people on it if you need to. and your 180* stat isnt doing too much since your fans are set to stock...

Can't really help you on the horn issue, but your not alone. One day while driving i was sitting at a red light, and then the light proceeds to turn green. I start to accelerate and as soon as i hit about 5 mph my horn started going off. The funny thing is, the faster i went the quicker the horn beeped. When i hit about 40 mph it was beeping so fast, theirs no way in hell i could even try to manipulate it by hitting the horn button. I pulled over and popped the horn fuse and drove the car home. One week later popped the fuse back in, and it started doing the same thing. I took out the fuse and put it back in about 3 months later, and all is fine and its been going on a good 2 years.

I thought i was the only one who had the horn problem, but i guess not. it has not done it to me in a while but the few times it was funny as hell. My horn randomly "honked" and then the cars next to me look at me like why the hell you honking at me, and at the same time i am looking around thinking some one was honking at me. Just another one of Gm's quality products i guess.

Hah that's funny I guess I will tear into it and let you know if I find the problem. I spent 18 months tracking down a soft short in a pressure sensor wire in my saab 9-5 so I should be able to tackle this cars electrical system seems a lot simpler then the 9-5, one bonus to this car :-) there aren't 3 different computers on the P-bus and I-bus communicating just to tell me my windshield washer fluid is low. Other then the a/c though I still think it's easier to work on that car. "I know I'm weird." no mechanic would agree with me.

If you're running stock pulley size you should be using a 665 belt. That's the Last 3 numbers 660 is used for 3.2 to 3.5" pulleys.

660 it on mine stock. Put it on the tensioner pulley last because it smooth and you can just slide it on.

I keep trying that but it ends up popping off the crank pulley as I slide it onto the other tensioner, I will give it a go tomorrow. Ya I was thinking another.5 inch would do it perfectly though. I guess the 660 will never slip lol. may break down prematurely though, or sheer the nose off my supercharger due to the tension *j/k*
I wouldn't mind putting a 3.5 pulley on mine but everyone here scared me out of it as I still have stock exhaust and plugs all that crap.

funny my saab came factory with 6-8 psi on a garrett turbo, I put a cold air on it and swapped to a mits td04 with a .60ar and I'm pushing 18psi with no other mods other then of course remapping the fuel trims and adding a pretty mean e85 tune that gives me about 18 miles per gallon but will light the tires up right off the line with my 4 speed auto lol. I love alcohol I can push my ign timing way up with out KR on that car. I can only imagine with a FMIC and 3" exhaust how much more I could get out of that thing. 263hp 356ft lbs isn't to bad for a 4banger though. My sleeper rice-eater. :-p

If you get the cheap EBay headers...you shouldnt have any issues putting a 3.5" on there.
