RTV is your friend
the copper one right?
No...High Temp Red.
alright thanks
Copper is better than the high temp red. That red stuff is the worst kind of RTV it is not sensor safe and it is corrosive. That is coming from a permitex rep that I talked to.
No RTV will last very long on headers. I have tested everything, including JB Weld, and the only decent sealant is Manley 907 high-temp epoxy. But even that did not hold permanently.
There are two problem spots on Pacesetters, the y-pipe joints and the triangular flange. The y-pipe joints pull apart from engine movement, so the only permanent fix is to weld at least one side. The flange can be epoxied, but the better solution is to either weld it after the headers are installed on the car, or grind down the flange and install a v-clamp.
Worked for me and still does...not sure why the rep would say that but w/e. I've never had an issue with it as MANY members here I know for a fact.
Just suck it up and weld them. Then you don't have to worry about it...ever.

Who doesnt own a welder, honestly? Lol
i would like to just weld them but no one around here will do it. and the people that say the will charge over a $100
Not sure why...it is just like welding exhaust pipe...get them installed and drive it over there with open DP/Crossover and tell them to weld it up...should only need two welds...now way that costs a hundred bucks...mine ran me like 40. Then when they charge you, kick them...leave 40 bucks and drive off. Not like they'll catch you anyways![]()
where do the headers need welded at? also my ssac headers tic. why do they do this. some say its the downpipe. is it? how can i fix it?
you will probably use a hundred dollars in RTV if you dont weld them........LOL
SSAC's are not the same as pacesetters... different design.
Nor do mine. I've heard its the Flex That ticks. I dunno i have had mine for a week and they do not make any noises except for out the tailpipe.
^^And this guy beats the living god out of it too
