Hello all. New to the Grand Prix scene. I've been into the 3rd gen Camaro/Firebird stuff for quite a while. Well I needed a more "normal" car but I still want to have some fun if you know what I mean.

I picked up a 2000 GTP and it has the SLP hood and airbox on it. It doesn't seem to be a complete GTX because the wheels aren't 17's. I'm not really sure on the exhaust either.

Anyway I'd like to run the 3.4 pulley and I'm in the planning stages and my first question is if the ram air hood/intake set up is better to or equal to a fender mount air filter.

What I'm thinking of doing is the 180 stat, cheap ebay header set-up, colder plugs by a hear range, pcm from someone and the smaller pulley. Would this probably suffice to run the 3.4?

    Thanks ahead of time!

Id say yes on the 3.4. as long as you have someone tune the car on a dyno or on the street, not a mail order tune.

Why not? A mail order tune is just fine if you get a DHP.

Go to the general tech section and read my thread. Safely Modding your 3800.

I've read through the safely modding article here and on a bunch of other websites. Main question was about the ram air intake vs the "normal" intake upgrades.

I don't think there are any places locally that do any type of tuning. I'd probably be stuck with a mail order tune.

WICGP has been gone for a while.

3800 Tech is the new local forum.

The underside of the trunk should have a slp sticker with tire size on it thats one way to tell if its a real gtx. Take the slp air box and cut a 2in hole in the front of it directly behind the headlight it will flow way better. As far as a tune i just got my mine back from will at overkill motorsports ive havent installed it yet but i hear good things about him and his work.
