i read somewhere that someone did this for their intercooler to seal. just wondering if there were any side effects to it or not. im working on a home port job on my blower, and i figured this would make a great reusable gasket. also any suggestions on porting? i got a good idea of where i wanna go, along with filling the silencer ports.

Dude for real, after all the work of putting everything together you're going to risk it by putting a piece of baking material between it?

Get a gasket dude, i'm sure bob at SDD can help you out. Shoot him an email to Robert@SinisterDD.com or visit their website at Sinister Drag Designs - Chicagolands new performance specialist! I'm sure he'll agree that baking sheets aren't going to "cut" it (LOL i crack my a$$ up)

um, its been done before, i dont see the issue. but im not going that route anyways. i thought id still have my original gasket to use as a pattern, but it got all ripped up. so im just gonna but a sc and tb gasket tomorrow.

Well then, baking is your thing, go for it! When you post up a thread about weird idle issues and vacuum leaks i'll go ahead and link this thread. As you said, get an sc/tb gasket, don't do this whether it's been done before or not, it's not a good idea, period.

Not on any ones side here but if the silicone sheet could stand the heat and was torqued properly I honestly dont see any leaking probles
Once again not choosing sides just dont see why it wouldnt work

Just thought I'd chime in and say that silicone gaskets do work. There's a guy that lives in Chandler AZ that I know personally that installed a Gen V with a stage 3 ZZP intercooler and proceeded to run 12's all day in 90 plus degree weather and no vacuum leaks with home made silicone gaskets.

if someone said they were gonna sell me baked silcone gaskets at a parts store i might just go to another store.

seeing as how people have said it has worked well okay. would i still kinda dought it, yea. what if when it bakes up the gasket deforms some and your left with a not so stock gaskets.

would i try it, maybe, would i use a **** load of rtv with it, **** yea.

    I'm doing silicone sheet gaskets:

Along with some other Bonneville guys:
BonnevillePRO.com • View topic - Silicone sheet to make reuseable s/c / IC / LIM gaskets?

Not using a baking sheet, but rather some silicone sheet material:
Silicone Rubber Roll and Sheet for Gaskets

As long as the baking sheet is somewhat smooth (no deep "pattern" molded in) and is large enough (minimum 11" by 15") I would assume you'd be OK.

Yea it is. But i agree with agrazela, i bought it on ebay as a large sheet and its thinner mainly, the ones you buy at the store are kinda thick.

You could. It just gets pricey when you take off the blower alot and have to buy a new gasket each time. You can make a reusable silicone one for $10.

UNLESS...you don't run it that often and all your coolant passages are closed on the LIM...I've re-used a few blowers gaskets with no issues.
