At idle after the car warms up I can hear a loud whistle coming from the EGR area. The car actually feels a little bit more sluggish. I am not sure what is goin on but could my EGR be going bad? Or maybe theres a leak in the EGR?

Typically, a whistling noise would indicate some type of vacuum leak, possibly from the vacuum line that connects to the EGR.

is there a vaccuum line ? Mines electronic. If it was the tube underneath it sounds like an exhaust leak (just fixed mine) pcv valve is close to that area, as is brake booster line

You are right archemedes, I completely forgot ours are electronic. I was under the hood on my Isuzu over the weekend and looked at the EGR there and its vacuum operated. Egg on m face I guess. What makes it worse is I have a spare EGR and was looking at it over the weekend too. Geesh.

Are you the Minno I know? With the HPTuners? If so, you can use the VCM controls in the scanner to command the EGR open and closed. This may help you determine if it is EGR related.

Now I am not sure, but I get only a whistle when it is really cold outside. And I have been told that it could just be the supercharger. But I am not for sure on that one. My whistle only happens when the car first starts up and then it stops after a few seconds.

Well my GTP was doing that before it went up on Jack stands. I had a new blower pulley on there and had put on an oversized idler pulley so barring a problem with one of the tensioner pulleys, it would most likely be the alternator.

Im wanting to paint my alternator, so I'll probably be looking for a spare soon anyway so I'll be able to rule that out.

Yes Lee its Dan Anywho this problem has gotten worse as I haven't had time to look into it. When I give the car maybe half throttle it cuts out for about 2 seconds. I am getting worried. I dont think its vacuum related although its possible because I redid all the vacuum lines. I am gonna have to fix this because I knew when the whistling noise came about that the car didn't pull as hard but now it wont even run right. Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks.

Anybody figure this out because I got it now and at first I thought it was my breaks but then when I opened my hood it was definitely under there. Just to much noise to pin point where it is coming from.

i had a whistle and it was a vaccum line running from the throttle body to some where by the firewall that combined with new spark plugs and wires eliminated all my problems
