I was planning on getting a PLOG this upcoming week so I can put on my 3.4 pulley. I was going to order the zzp PLOG without the coating, or try to find a used one somewhere. Does it make a huge difference having the PLOG coated or not?

Buy headers and sell your dp. I would get a stainless plog if I were going to go turbo.

I know I'm just going to be one in a million who say this, but seriously, you need to reconsider and go with some headers.

not planning on going turbo, the pulley is gonna be the last performance thing I'm going to add besides maybe a port and polish in the future.

a port and polish is useless at that level. just saving you time.

I am saying the only reason I would get a plog is to run a turbo. Although you may think you will be done you wont be and headers are pretty much a must for a 3.4.

if you can scan and have 0 knock with the 3.4 after the plog then go for it..and id get the stainless steel..its be proven 1 billion times before that its not ALWAYS the case to NEED headers for a 3.4 setup..every car is dif. i got plog,dp,catback,tune,3.4,180 with 0 KR whatsoever..there are cars w/ headers that still got 2-3* w/ the 3.4...you just never know

I'd say skip the "cheese" log and get some headers...

Plogs are horrible. It seems like everyone who has one eventully cracks later on. Everyone who told me "well mine hasn't cracked yet" has. So if you want something to put on your car, and in a couple years later take it off and completely reweld it not to mention have a part on your car that looks cheesy as hell... a cheese log is right up your alley.

Get headers and fix the restrictions from both banks, no sense in half assing one side...

BTW, the SS is a bigger waste. For that price and a ported rear mani you could have some decent headers.

    Headers FTW...

i just went thru this man. sold my sh!t and bought ps headers on ebay for $130 used. a plog probably won't kill enough kr for a 3.4 pulley, be sure to scan. i'm still f'n knocking with 3.5 and headers(intense can tune, soon to be remedied)

My non stainless plog cracked after 6 months. i bought it new. had to get a shop reweld all the primarys becasue every single one of them cracked. biggest thing i regret doing with my car is not going with headers when everyone else was telling me to bypass the plog and go straight to headers.

this spring, that POS plog is coming off.

for some of us, headers was a big pile of $$$$$$ to spend all at once. me and my wife are on our last semester, so the plog was what i could do.......then i found ebay pacesetters and jumped on it. i sold the ploc and d/p and recouped the cost of the headers and half of i paid when i coated them...lucky me. now my tune is real crappy.

alright well I'm gonna try to PLOG with the 3.4 bc I've heard just as many if not more positive outcomes from people than negative and scan and see what happens. I've heard the the overkill tuned pcms are the best out there so maybe the tune will help kill the kr

best tune out there is a dyno tune.

Plog worked fine for me for a while, I eventually got the pace****ters anyway.

I would never use a plog with turbo.

You could, as a preventive measure, buy the PLog and have a shop weld the manies so that it will hopefully prevent any cracking down the road. I would say after you get them welded, also buy serious hi temp engine paint and paint the PLog, if you are not gonna get them coated. Cause even the stainless steel will bring about some minor rusting if not kept clean.

And lastly for the Love of Baby Jesus, do not get the aluminum PLog, those are the absolute worst

Also if you are gonna get a DP, I would suggest only the 2.5" DP and not the 3.0" DP. The rear manies are fine really seeing they port the air almost directly out. If you can afford the ported rear manies, I would say go for it, if not? It wont hurt you when you slap on your 3.4 pulley.

no arshole, i bought them off ebay. they were pace setter brand, but they kinda are pos's. what i did was weldup where the crossover goes into the collector. and no damn leaks!!!!!!!!!!! i sold my plog and d/p and made my money back and then some extra to pay for the coating.

call a mod an arshole? oh boy here we go... Also, from what I know plogs are not available in aluminum...I have only seen them in stainless and also in mild steel versions??? If you decide to go ahead with the Plog...get the stainless version and do not get it coated. These seem to be the most resistant to cracking

no, the arsholes that thought i boought ebay headers. then i re read tmy post and i put "ps" headers and it does look like pos, thats on me, tired as heck. plog served me well till i was able to get headers. i would rather have a plog than fool with a ported front stock mani. oh well, to each his own. this thread could go on forever.
