if you make sure the crank gear is machined and cleared correctly then you shouldn't have to worry about the pump cover.

Mine still rubbed a little, Then I got a machined cover and had no rubbing.
0.020" isn't really that much, but it does a lot of good.
I'm glad this thread popped back up. I'm going to be looking into a double roller here soon. I'm coming up on 100k miles and I just put on some 1.9 rockers and 105lb springs. I'm sure my stock tensioner isn't going to like that very much
Just get a new stock tensioner for the 105s
I want to plan for the future if I decide to cam it. Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Unless you are running a big cam you can use a stock chain.
i had a double roller on my rocker car. what's wrong with a little overkill?
well if you go for a big cam you'd going to want to run a 7/8ths or 15/16ths chain and both need to be considered a maintenance item.... so guess what.
big power in these cars = you must keep an eye on things that are unseen.
Ok, forget I posted anything. Seriously, this is a thread on a double roller timing chain. Not that it matters to this thread one bit matt, but I'm getting a triple edge built trans with a hardened input shaft, 7/8ths chain, and a quaife built for me before racing this year.
I was about to say...what does a transmission chain have to do with the double roller or JP we are talking about? 99% of nothing.
3EP's Transmissions are awesome J...you'll love it. As for pics...I thought they were in my PB account, but they are on my FB...so I'll get them put on here later tonight.
My point is, its a good idea to inspect it from time to time if you're running lots of power...
I mean you DO check your oil level and tire pressure right?
Coolant freezing temp, brake fluid water %, power steering fluid level, ATF level etc etc etc etc.
Does it not make sense to check a part that is known to have issues?
Taking the front cover off is WAY easier than yanking the trans out and apart to inspect the chain...I'd never do that.
I want to update this thread and not start a new one since I got a totally different problem with my double timing chain.
The problem I got is not the clearance on the oil pump cover plate but the other side
The chain is hitting the crankshaft . i'l made some nice pic's of it and upload them in a sec when I got back home
hi all ok a few sec become a day had some trouble along the way :)
here are some pictures i made from the engine,it sits up side down
I needed my engine to line bore using ARP studs when it was back i started to put it back to gather,so i was putting on the Rollmaster double timing i found out that the chain is hitting the crank

here i used one gasket i got some clearance on the pump side
the big problem is the other side what is the best thing to do ,i was thinking to get the crank machined and take 1 mm of the side where the chain is
someone got a better idea
i was hoping someone giving me some advice about this ,i will take my crank out and machine it then
A couple hours isn't long enough for many to view a topic.
Gotta give it a couple days.
