So I'm about to pick up some mildly ported heads for cheap and was wondering if it would even be worth it if I got a 3 angle valve job done on them. The heads are basically just port matched on the intake and the exhaust right now, but I was planning on at least getting them milled down a bit for higher compression. I plan on staying stock cam for now and I have a GenV/IC/1.9 rocker setup (and possibly some spray ) in the works. So would a 3 angle valve job be worth it for that setup or do you guys think just the port matching and milling will be fine?

Three angle is what I have had done on three sets of heads. It's what my local shop considers "standard". Five angle is supposed to be the best of the best for valve jobs.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

The heads i was doing for my build we did a 3 angle valve job on them its just a 45* for seat a 30* to narrow seat areaand a 60* to widen throat honestly Im not sure how a 5 angle would work on our heads theres just not that much seat material

But yea most machines shops 3 angle is standard

if anything i think the throat needs to be widend a bit and smoothed out the most.

looking at a set of stock heads, it looks like the throats could use some massaging.

Ok ya after looking at some pics of our heads they do come with a 3 angle valve job stock. Whoops I didn't know it was standard. Well I guess if the stock valve job isn't in too great of shape I'll just get it redone with a standard valve job instead of a 5 angle. Anyone know the going price of a standard valve job?

its just powder that you spray on the head or block where you are testing you magnatize the area and the powder wil collect and stick in the crack its a really simple check
When i did my heads i was to umped up and moving to fast and forgot

the powder is a bit pricey
