    Help! I took the gp to have the antifreeze switched over. They called and said I have a leak right under where the SC is. I assumed he meant the intake manifold gasket. Nope. Its an elbow shaped something. You cant see it really in the picture, but you kinda get the idea. It is right where the sunlight ends, in the shadow. It comes out of the manifold. Can anyone tell me what it is and how easy or hard it is to fix??? The guy said he seen a few Cadillacs with the same problem.

    Your coolant elbow is leaking? If so that is an easy and cheap fix. Just get a GM elbow, as the ones in the Help section at Autozone, may not hold up.

    Thanks! I got your first reply and went to the dealership. It's $12. Thanks!!! Does it just pop off and on?
    I had to come back home I forgot my card. I'm gonna go get it then come home and fix it.

    From memory;
    You should be able to remove or maybe even loosen the alternator enough to get that elbow out. Just be careful not to break the other elbow that you can't see. The last one I did was on a Bonne.

    Hopefully someone that has done a lot of these will step in otherwise I'll see if I can dig up a How-To for you.

    I can't come up with anything for just the elbow. Too bad this wasn't' tomorrow. My son and I are tearing his GTP apart tonight to replace the LIM and VC gaskets, coolant elbow, rockers, injector orings...etc... not going to help you today though,

    I dont NEED to fix it today. I'll go look at it. Let me know tomorrow how it goes and I'll just fix it then. Or even Wed. It's supposed to be nice for the next 3 days that I know of. So I'll just drive something else. No biggie. I just want to fix the leak so I can swap that old antifreeze out. Thanks so much for your help!!!! Have fun tomorrow! Take pictures

    Well as far as pictures go, you've seen how crappy the pictures from my camera are, plus we have limited time to get this all done. At the very least I'll try to see if there is anything else besides the alternator that you would have to deal with.

    I got another small problem that seems to be getting a little bigger. The tiny little hose that comes off the radiator neck (the cap), has a crack that leaks also. I went out to take it off, and can't see where it leads to. I'm guessing that I have to take all the plastic off and also undo where the motor mounts go? The hose is hidden. Im bout ready to put some gum on it and call it good Big Red

    the tiny little hose goes to your coolant reservoir tank... if it's on the passenger strut tower, it juts out over the battery and then straight back. if it goes over to the drivers side, then it's running accross the rad support....

    On the 99 it runs from the radiator passes by the fuse box and connects near the bottom of the overflow bottle.

    We didn't get as far as I planned tonight. However I believe if you remove the belts, overflow bottle, alternator, and loosen the alternator bracket, you can remove the elbow. Just make sure you clean both holes (LIM and alternator bracket) out real well, if the elbow is broken make sure none of it is left in the holes, and lube the orings with vaseline.

    Sorry I didn't realize yours is on the drivers side front corner. After pulling off the coolant elbow on the 99 tonight, removing the alternator bracket completely seems like a good idea. If your year car has two of those elbow like the 99, I would buy the other elbow and replace both. We had both elbows broken.

    Some year(s) GP's only have one plastic elbow.
