Ok so out of nowhere my driver side window decided to stop going up a day before 30 degree weather roll's in.. it sucks.. so here's my issue i really don't believe it's the motor, Im thinking it's the switch because when i press the passenger switch you can feel/hear a little click but my driver side isn't doing that.. so my dumb self took the switch apart and was mesing with it then it sparked and the window moved just a bit.. well i can't get it to do that long enough cause it'll just smoke or burn so im guessing because it did that, that im just needing a switch right? well hopefully im right.. anyway until i can get one is there anyway of getting it up for now? i messed the switch up pretty bad so i don't think i can jump it like that.. any other ideas?

Yeah, with the switch unplugged, take the plug end and a bent paper clip, and jump the two terminals with the clip as if it were the switch.

I have the same problem I think. But after monkeying around with it seems like it kicks in again. Only way to get your window to go up is what is said about. You have to complete the circuit somehow.

i had this happen to my 97 gt. i think its because of where the switch sits it makes it easy to have water hit it if your window is cracker or anything during rain. i ordered a new switch offline and it was like brand new

just to get it up for now the fastest and easiest way i've found is to run to jumper wires (a power from the bat and a ground from anywhere) and take your plug of the window motor, put one on one side and the other on the other terminal, if it doesnt go the intended way swap the wires to the other terminals and up she goes, if not you have bad power or a junk motor. Switches on ALL gm mid-size cars are freakin junk!

there all right as along as the motor is still good just hook some power up to it and order a different switch from somewhere. or since its getting cold just roll it up and dont roll it down till summer

My ex use to have a grand am and the switches in her car where made of copper and would turn green. I'd take them apart and with some alcohol clean them and it worked. Could give it a try.
