Re: Can I remove the throttle body screen??
do not remove the screen i would hate to say it but it is there for a reason dure to this fact: there's a problem with removing it. The airflow isn't very laminar coming into the car and the system was designed with the screen to ensure air hit the maf sensor straight on. By removing the screen your maf may not register all the air entering the engine. This leans out the engine (aka bad) and makes the PCM compensate via the O2 readings. If your fueling trims are high to begin with, this can push the PCM past it's limits.

I would love to go take one of his 2 day tuning seminars.
The book:
Amazon.com: Greg Banish: Books
I just ordered a copy of the book, but for what it is worth, I have my screen in. I took it out for a while maybe a year after getting the car. I cant recall any noticeable performance differences but it always seemed that the idle was a bit rougher and responsiveness may have been off.
May be my imagination but it prompted me to put it back in a couple weeks later.
Re: Can I remove the throttle body screen??
Scotty, as I understand it, if removal of the screen causes problems, it is under the lower airflow conditions. However, like you, back in the day I removed mine but could tell right away there was "something" that didn't seem as smooth as with the screen installed. I believe it was reinstalled the next day.

So did I. Amazon is going to have to restock. :D I think someone needs to start a thread just on technical automotive books. I need some leads on good suspension theory books.

Thats a good idea.
Re: Can I remove the throttle body screen??
I like that idea too. It is nice to read books that others recommend and have found useful.
Greg's book will likely make you want to attend his seminars. TooMch just got back from one in Austin...lucky
