Hey everyone, Im looking to help bump up the MPG in my GTP, every other car i've had has had great sucess with a freeflowing cat vs. stock.

But i like the power, combined with silence of the Gtp in its current state.

I cant seem to find any solid info on JUST swapping the downpipe making a difference in sound or not. every thread i have read shows "i swapped a downpipe, and exhaust" I want to keep my factory exhaust.

Does anyone know if JUST swapping the downpipe will increase the sound any? if i am about to drop 200-300 on a downpipe, I want to make sure its going to be what i want. and more exhaust sound is NOT what im looking to gain.

it'll make the exhaust note a little deeper, but nothing much will change. youll feel the difference in power though.

The power doesnt even bother me, I drive in rush hour traffic to work, and back. Every now and then i may see speeds of 40+mph lol. the MAIN reason im doing it is to free up a MPG or 2. Plus the thought of that stock U-bend is just depressing.

I did not notice a gain in mpg or any change in sound at all swapping just the dp to 3" catted. It probably did help mpg a little though as the stock part looks pretty restrictive.

when i put mine in my 01 GT it got louder, deeper, and my MPG was the same/less. same DP as the one u described. not much power increase but prly cuz im moving less air than a S/C car.

It would be more noticeable if you had an HV3 w/ a tune.
