my 2000 grand prix gtp drives good when giving it gas or driving normal...when it is in park or idleing, the RPM's move up and down and hesitate when they get too low..

My car completely shut off once or twice when i was driving coming to a stop...IT seems that when i give it gas and let off the gas, the RPM's go too low and the car wants to die..

This is a used 3800 Series II rebuilt engine, after i blew my old one. The shop i go to says there's nothing wrong. I've taken the car to them a few times.

For some reason I feel that it might have something to do with the throttle maybe getting stuck..I dont want to just start taking things apart..

Any tips or ideas please feel free to help..thanks

also, i know that i'm a noob only to this forum ..and i once did click the search button! so dont hate!

    SES light?
    Scan for any codes?
Ever have a problem on start up?
Ever have to jump the car recentnally?

I had the same exact problem with my old car (94 Chevy Lumina euro 3100). I checked EVERYTHING but the battery. Replaced the battery and it was fixed. With that being said i would NOT start with replacing the battery. Just a little story for ya.

    no codes...
I replaced the battery 5 months ago..
no problem ever on start up.

Someone mentioned maybe a vacuum leak? which i dont know what/where that is..

The rpms just go low to where the engine needs to open up a little and give gas to not let it die out...so the rpms bounce up and down constantly in idle.

Performance wise, the car goes in WOT...though there is a little delay sometimes when i step on the gas from when the car actually goes..I think this maybe called engine knock or something...correct me if im wrong...I possibly might have no idea what i am talking about..lol

A vacuum leak is a possibility. It seems 9/10 problems on here are solved because of that.

Im sure someone will correct me if i am wrong but i believe your vacuum setup is the same as mine. So i am speaking from experience with mine.

Take off your engine cover: Their is a black nob or whatever its called in the middle that you twist off with you hands. Then twist off the plastic tube where you fill your engine oil.

The vacuum line is a small black hard plastic tube circling the blower of your supercharger. It has 4 connections to the engine. Two are the front of the S/C blower, one is under the S/C snout and one is behind the s/c snout.

Visually inspect them for cracks and on the fittings that connect them to the engine components. Go one step further and spray carb cleaner on them while the car is on. If their is a leak the engine will idle higher. Also spray the break booster. It looks like a circle on the firewall on the driver side.
