so basically here is timeline of what happened...

-Car would start when pressing the accelerator.

-Car would drive but would shut off when driving. when i would pull off the side of the road, i would start the car but would only start when accelerator was pressed

-Now car wont turn over at all, I hit the accelerator and now nothing.

Does it chug, aka sound like it wants to turn over.

Any noises when you try and turn the engine over?

What year vehicle do you have?

What mods do you have and wen were they put on?

It chugs like it wants to turn over but nothing..i let it chug for 6 or so seconds then try again, nothing at all! no mods at all, just pure stock. its a 99 pontiac grand prix gtp. The battery was fully charged when i had it tested a few weeks ago because before if i went to crank it, it would start after i would tap the accelerator during the chug.

If you battery were dead it would be making a ticking noise. I am leaning towards a fuel problem rather then a spark problem. To eliminate the spark problem you can make sure your plugs have spark.

When you cycle the key to on do you hear a very faint noise (fuel pump). If not your fuel pump could be going or gone. If you DO hear it it could still be faulty. So basically not haring it would help.

Since it was a problem that progressively got worse i would defiantly try the fuel filter first. Easy to fix and a very cheep item.

What about a mass air flow sensor? My car sounds like it did the same thing and it turned out to be the maf sensor. Just unplug it and you will find out real quick. It would try to run but quit or "chugged" for a bit first. And it would only start when i pressed the accelerator. Just a thought.

Is a possibility, i don't hear them going bad too often on our cars, And if people post about it here i haven't noticed.
