My son called from college Saturday and GTP would not start. I went and looked at it and it had no fuel pressure and cycling key could not hear the high pitch whine of pump running. Long story short a friend had a GP SE parts car I got a fuel pump out of on Labor Day and put it in and now GTP is fine. Is there a diff. in the GTP fuel pump or is this one fine to leave in?

I guess I won't disagree that I'm weird, so here we go.

From the parts list, the 3.1 and the 3.8 got the same pump from 1998-2000. The SC 3.8 had a different pump, I'm assuming it had something to do with those years having a high and low mode. For 2001-2002, the three engines each got a different pump. I couldn't tell you what the differences are, I have no idea.

The biggest thing I would worry about is running low mode on a pump not designed for it. For the most part, these pumps don't like to be starved for power. What model years are involved?
