    Lets talk head porting.

    Intense------------------------------------------------------Both--------------------------------------------------------ZZPerformance

Milled .005" for flatness-------------------------------Setup to run the same lift (.600)----------------------------------Typically milled .005" (add. milling avaliable upon request)
    $2000.00-----------------------------------------------#130lbs Comp Cam Springs--------------------------------------------------$1500.00

Anyone have personal experience or any numbers comapring the 2 sets? Dyno's with same/similar setup but, the heads?
I seem to recall reading that on on of ZZP's cars they even changed to Intense's design and saw a gain...
    Valve Sizes?

I know I could go to a machineshop. What I don't know is things like appropriate valve sizes and stuff and figure where the leading companies are setting.

Get some heads from an 04+ they have to bigger valves. Or you could just get the valves and have your heads machined from them. I believe trannyman uses the valves from the 04+'s.

start with 04+ heads with the bigger intake valves. then take them and get them nicely ported, polished, decked, etc. with stock valve sizes and then make sure the valve guides are cut down and what not to run the lift you want. i would buy a big cam right away if youre going to do this (IS3 or just get a custom from PRJ). go big or go home.

I was wondering kinda the same time thing as pontiackid. Is there a place u could send heads to have that stuff done for that cheap cause up here in rapid city, south dakota there are no machine shops here that will do the work. I dont understand all that lift and stuff that u guys talk about. I dont wanna spend 1500 to 2000 bucks for heads at all especially if u can get heads done to like a "stage 5" head work as bio calls it lol. I wanna go with a big ass cam but dont know what to choose, which kinda rockers to get and all the stuff to the heads.

With a big cam, rockers are iffy...just stick with 1.60:1 Roller Rockers so it is easier on the valves. Kinda like the old saying goes...one or the other...cam or rockers.

oh i didnt know that u shouldnt run rockers with a cam. Is there anybody on here that does good head work so i dont have to spend a **** load of money on ZZP heads when i go there next month. I have a body that is in love with ZZP and is getting alot done to his car on his turbo'ed monte so i figured i would have them put a cam in, smaller pulley, injectors, tune, and valvetrain work since im not familiar with that kinda of stuff. What kinda of cam should i run? i was thinkin bout the XP but figure i should get some opinions. like u said blue, "go big, or go home" so thats what ima do but i just need some help on deciding what to do. Sorry pontiackid, not tryin to jack your thread. just figured might as well bring it up since its the same topic and not starting another thread.

Well Bio, I took your word and got ahold of some L32 Heads from Morad. We will see. What do you mean by stage 5? I mean I know what you mean but, I asked about stage 3's as that seems to be the line where bigger it is reccomended that you run race fuel...I would like to be able to fill up at the pump still.

Unless you put some 10:1 pistons in you can still run 91/93 just. How much did you spend on the heads from morad?

just take them in and ask what they can do with them for what price. you can usually get a good ported set that is clearanced for about $800.

I got what they called a street set up with a mild port and valve job with decking done for $450. I did not have the guides clearanced tho.
