i did a search run but being on dial up i can only look up to 1 year without having it time out on me. the dearches only winded up ppl asking if ac deletes were worth it etc etc etc. my question is, even without the ac delete pulley installed, has anyone just bought a much shorter belt to run everything else-the waterpump, alternator, crank, power steering, and tensioner? i have a motor that im puting toegether and i rarely use the ac so one isnt not going to get installed on the motor. also is the smooth tensioner pulley for the serpetine reversed thread? i broke the one that came on the long block i bought when trying to loosen it so i was able to transfer the spare frmo the bad motor thats still in my car onto the new motor.

    TIA

    To answer your question(s)

No, you cant just skip the AC and run a shorter belt due to how the belt routing is, and that EVERY 3800 was factory equipped with a AC compressor.

Most you can do is buy a "delete" which is just your standard remove the compressor, and install this ribbed plastic pulley instead. Weight savings yes, power gains...probably not.

As for the threads being left hand, yes. To remove the pulley for the accessory belt tensioner, left is tight, and right is loose. The one for the supercharger is your standard thread, right tight, left loose.
