Four inch cutout FTW............LOL
Re: Any way to quiet down an intake during the "warm up" stage?
i dont see it being that loud. mine i barely notice it and i have that cheapo spectre filter with a hole on the top. but i guess you care about neighbors lol i dont. they make all that noise with them hondas or harleys so i dont feel bad when i pull off and give them a soundtrack from eaton lol
Re: Any way to quiet down an intake during the "warm up" stage?
mine is pretty loud.......I get looks all the time.....when it is cold I dont step on it hard, so you can hear the noise pretty good.....once it is warm it goes away, and all you hear is mr. blower.............that I love. Pure sex.........

No kidding it's really loud in the winter.
Just get used to it. Any aftermarket intake makes that sound and its louder with the SC.
IF you think its loud now try having a ported SC and TB. Mines got a howl...:th_thumbsup-wink:
The wife hates it and told me it sounds like ****. I told her to kiss it she's not the one who drives it. Don't get me wrong I love my wife but I love my Car too.
If your neighbors hear your intake tell them to turn their Beltones down.

I really like the Horn Comment... I about fell out of my chair laughing.

One of the few things I don't think I'll miss about the 3800. The boxer is quiet as a mouse until you get on it, the turbo spools, and that deep boxer grunt comes from the exhaust.

*COUGH*3"turboback*COUGH*
Re: Any way to quiet down an intake during the "warm up" stage?
Won't happen for a while. I had the Imp's exhaust for over three years. Not itching to get back to a noisy car.
Re: Any way to quiet down an intake during the "warm up" stage?
i have the same issue with my intake. i dont mind it at all, and if my neighbors do, good! F them!
but anyways on to the reason im here right now, i was wondering if any of you guys' intakes make a high pitched whistle almost turbo like sound when you step on the gas? maybe its just an N/A thing....

Maybe you have a hidden turbo you didnt know about! Does ur car oddly run 12sec 1/4 mile? :P.
But seriously i had a car that used to do that and the cause, or so i was told, one one of the pulleys.
I have also heard that different intakes can cause this especially if you have a TB spacer. Cant know for sure tho.
Re: Any way to quiet down an intake during the "warm up" stage?
and i thought about it i dont remember hearing the dragon sucking noise on our dts. it was in the fender but i think he ran the pipe thru the factory air box for warranty purposes.

That is because the Northstar's IAC doesn't make that kind of insane loud noise the 3800 IAC TB does.
Re: Any way to quiet down an intake during the "warm up" stage?
makes sense. i like my fwi on my gtp though it makes my blower louder, not as loud as bf's gtp but he has a smaller pulley and his blower is older

Yeah, I've got it too. Never bothered me enough to try to track it down, though.
Re: Any way to quiet down an intake during the "warm up" stage?
yeah mine does it right before it changes gears. some gtps dont, some do. first black gtp we had had same exact mods and it didnt make that high piched noise. but the second black gtp made that noise and so does mine and the dts did to.
