So I noticed today if I let the car idle and the temperature increases a small amount and then rev the car it will let out a puff of white smoke. It doesnt smell like oil nor does it smell sweet. Its one small puff and if you rev it again immediately after that it will not do it again. But if you let it sit and idle for awhile, it will do another puff when you rev it.

Any ideas? Oil didnt look milky but I am going to change the oil tommorow. I dont think it has used any coolant either. I am going to keep a close eye though.

Oh and its a stock 98 Grand Prix GTP

I would have to say coolant or something along those lines. It does not have to be using a whole lot for something like this to happen. But like you said just keep an eye on it and let us know what happens

I havent changed the LIM gaskets. I just bought the car but I think that is what I will be doing a little later this week. Can you purchase a metal ones at a local parts store? Or do you have to buy from the dealer?

Should I be replacing the LIM gaskets, supercharger gasket, throttle body gasket and coolant elbows also when I tear it down?

What im worried about is it being one of the head gaskets. How often do they actually give problems on this engine?

    Should be...but I wouldn't press my luck.

Might as well do new coolant elbows too...and you want to get the GM Aluminum ones...not the crap felpro ones.

Actually Fel-Pro has a second design out now that is suppose to correct that problem your talking about. And just for testing sake I have not had an issue out of any of them yet.

I dont plan on pressing my luck. I ordered a bunch off gaskets from ZZP this afternoon. I got the GM aluminum ones. Its just waiting for them is going to be the problem. I need my car for daily driving and I live in canada so I have to wait a bit longer. I can buy them locally but they are double the price which is rediculous..

could this be a small puff of oil smoke? If it is, this will not fix it. But for your sake, I hope it does and it is not an oil smoke puff...........

They work fine for about 2 times. After that they need replaced. The GM ones are superior.

I am 100% positive it is not oil smoke. Not blue and with some of the cars I have owned I am quite familiar with the smell of burning oil.

My 98 gtp did that too the exact same thing .i changed lim gaskets and still did it.so i said f-it.one of my friends was selling a eaton m90 snout that he got rebuilt, got lazy and never put it on,then sold the car.mine was starting to rattle so i replaced it with the rebuilt one and it stopped. So i think it was somehow burning the supercharger oil.not only that when i checked the fluid it was always a little low with no visible leaks. Im not saying this is your problem, just telling you what happened to me.hope this helps you out.

when i took the old sc off the rotors and everything had a almost gummy type oily residue build up on it prettty bad.dont know were else it would have came from but the supercharger seals(rotos to gears)seals maybe.but needles to say after putting the rebuilt sc on it stoped.
