I need some help deciding my next mod. I should have close to $400 to blow in a few days or so, and it will definitely burn a hole in my pocket. Currently i have a 1998 GTP with 3.4 mps, dp, slp cat-back, tb spacer, JMB FWI, plugs, t-stat, and unfortunately a zzp pcm.

So, with that said, i have 3 options in mind....

1.) Green Bastard (Reptile) Supercharger/TB Port and Polish and GBP Tune
    or
    2.) SSAC Headers
    or
3.) ZZP rockers and ls6 valve springs

I'm leanin toward 1 or 2, but i can't make up my mind!!!!

If you have any desire/time to learn how to tune, i would buy a tuner. A good tune can drop close to a second off of your 1\4 mile. If i remember correctly someone claimed to have run a 99 stock GTP in to the high 13's with a really good tune.

Your decision should be based on your mechanical expertise and goals.

If you have a good deal of knowledge/skills i would go for the headers. Not too hard to install but problems with sealing could call for substantial welding. (I'm not sure about the track record of SSAC headers). Breaking a bolt in your engine block = no bueno, would you know what to do? You allready have a dp which would become useless if you get headers (some types anyway).

Personally i would go with choice FOUR. You get the tuned PCM which you defiantly need (ZZP is garbage). You get the P&P, better S/C and TB efficiency, less KR and more whine! And you buy a Plog, the rear manifold isn't too restrictive however the front is, the plog will help allot. You don't need to lift your car to do this work and if you exchange your cores the price is amazing. All work is done on top and any problems you encounter would be easier to fix.

Choice four would run you ~ $540 and ~$440 after you return the blower and tb cores. If you get the plog used you can knock another $40 off of that price at least, bringing you down to $400. You can probably even get something for the front exhaust manifold if you decide to sell it.

none of those will give you a big kick in the pants. the ported blower/tb will be the most useless to you at this point in your modding. you will literally get like 5 hp from it at most. the headers will give you a little top end, but youre not to a point that you NEED headers yet. for rockers you need exhaust work for them to help out a bunch.

i suggest you just wait and save up for an intercooler setup OR a cam setup. either of those should run around $1000, but your car will be a whole new beast with either one.

really? bio you dont think that a really good tune over the zzp pcm would benefit him at all? thats my next move is to get a good tune on my car. it would be the cheapest and easiest way to gain hp i think

That DHP in your car is the best PCM ever Don't bother messing with it until you get rockers/cam/IC. Damn near 13's with your mods in the midwest is quick.

I say number one...that's only because I know how much I loved mine

realisitically you cant expect any of those things to give you a big gain. im just being honest.

if i HAD to pick one of those things i would do headers and then call up brian for a tune. its really what would benefit you the most at this point.

Rockers will create more knock with more air flow and no exhaust compinsation for them...BUT, since he has a 3" DP and PLOG...he should be fine.

usually untuned cars running a 3.4 pull anywhere from 2-8* of knock unless they are cammed or intercooled.

It's like 103 or 105 around here - sure to kill a couple * of KR.

Spend some of the cash on a tune. Save for cam, Gen V, and one of those cool chrome valve cover breathers.

yeah i know what u meant nick. i never intend on doin a cam, and the gen V would be kinda cool, and prob. pretty cheap, but i dunno. i mean really, whats the benefit at this point? i already have a stock blower with 3.4 pulley. the gen V's flow better and all, but would it really make any diff over my setup now? i guess if i planned on doin a cam, ic setup, meth inj and all that cool ****e then i could see using the gen V's better flow.

dont get SSAC headers. save up for some good ones, or get a plog, and some roller rockers.
