I'm Installing my TOG heades and i was wondering if anyone could give me some tips that will speed up the install. I have already removed the motor mounts and i have the front and side stock headers off, i'm working on the back ones right now and they are taking forever, i have the engine tilted as far foward as i can get it. any ideas? Thanks

unfortunately if the motor is already tilted forward, there aren't any other tricks that I know of. It will take some time. Good luck.........

Not really, its time consuming. Bolt on the rear and tighten it fully. Put the motor back in the correct position, bolt on the front header and crossover loosly, align em as good as you can, tighten starting at the front header then tighten the crossover last.

TOGs are the easiest headers I've ever installed. The hardest part of the install was modding the dipstick properly. Otherwise it was cake....

If you need more room, remove everything or loosen whats in your way above the rear valve cover. Then move map sensor/whatever around to free up space, take out the engine lift brackets and leave them out, but dont lose them. Could also get a ratchet strap and crank the engine a bit more forward.

Could try different positions too... I have pretty long arms but I can get at the bolts and plugs from underneath the car. But the best thing to have that was mentioned above is a swivel socket.

Thanks a lot guys, i've been going at it for about 3-4 hours, with limited tools, but i have everything out except the back o2 sensor and the bolt in front of it, the o2 is really in there good and i cant get to the bolt in front of it because the deep well 13 and the ratchet keep hitting the o2, so i'm thinking i have to either cut down the size of my 13 or try to find a way to get that o2 out. also any tips on the dip stick? can i just yank it out? does it unscrew? any tip you have are very helpful.

and by the way, my headers dont have a third cross over pipe, its just the front and the back and they clamp in the middle.

Go get a o2 sensor socket

The tranny dipstick has a LITTLE bolt at the base of it...I think it is a 10mm and it'll come out and then you just pop the trans stick out...beware you might lose a little fluid. IMO, RTV any section that comes together...RTV helps reguardless of what header brand and eliminates any chance of having leaks.

Somewhere along the lines of this...

well, you shouldn't have had to touch anything with the coolant/oil when installing headers unless you took the throttle body off but that does not explain why coolant looks muddy... Is it your trans fluid??? and the dipstick is held in by a small nut, if you cant see it, try going underneath the car and lining it up...

I didnt remove any cooling lines, idk where the leak is comming from, the trans dip stick is held in by the nut but some how it fell out of its hole. the coolent turned to mud, cuz when you mix dex cool and any other type, thats what happens, so the owner before me must have done that, i have only had the car for about 4 months and now it wont start

when i put the headers on, i started the car and it died, i didnt have the motor mounts in so i thought maybe thats why it died, but when i went to start it again it just cranked

did you mess with the starter wires? i know for pacesetter you need to loosen the wires and adjust them so they dont melt...

Sounds like you need to recheck your connections...as for the front header touching the fan...bolt your mounts back up...I mean, I have solid LOWER mounts so when I take off my dog bones it doesn't matter because the pile of crap doesn't move anyways.

And for readjusting the wires on the starter? Nope...never had to do that on the few header installs I have been a part of...must have just been your car because the starter is definitely OUT of the way of my pacesetter's.

just sayin, maybe he undid something and didnt put it back. theres no reason for a car not to start just by putting headers on and not touching anything else. if you took the tb off make sure everything is connected...

check the wires on the starter anyway, maybe one is grounding.

These wires will get melted with pacesetters. After taking them off you see the problem. There has been one that I know of that welded itself to the front header and a few others very close...

Maybe it is a motor mount or lowering issue? I've had solid mounts/polys and stock dog bones with my pacesetters even after being lowered and never had an issue with the fan shroud OR starter wires...hmmmmmmm
