We picked up our GP last weekend and drove it home 300 miles. No issues other than the fact that the low coolant light was on. We bought it know it needed new LIM gaskets. Well we replaced those, put in a 180 thermostat and NGK Iridium plugs. We bled out the coolant system and we've been driving it for 3 days now with no issues. Well today is started going up in temp again. It will go up to around 200 and then go back down to the first main notch on the gauge. Then it creeps up again and goes back down. This is on the highway that it does this. It's not low on coolant and not losing it anywhere, the oil is not milky so I'm hopefully ruling out head gaskets, and it has a new thermo. Most of the radiator fluid was taken out and Dexcool was put back in. Don't know what was originally in there. I just listened to the sticker, lol. So anyways throw me some advice please.

If it is going up and down, I'm guessing it is either a sticking t-stat, or there is still some air trapped in there, or the gauge is malfunctioning. Do you have a way to scan?

No, I sold my HP Tuner, won't ever stop regretting that. I'm going to bleed it again tonight, the t-stat is new, but very well could be bad, and if neither of these are working I'm going to do a leak-down test.

if you dont have your fans set to turn on until 200* like stock then you will never get it to stop doing that. you need to turn on the fans at 180* with a tuner.

It should NOT be going up and down like that on the highway, no matter what the fans are set at. Definitely sounds like it needs bled.

That's a good point. Personally, I set my fan1 to come on at 185, and fan2 at 190 (with 180 t-stat). If you set them to 180, they will just run constantly.

All right, this is still happening, only in town though. It creeps up to around 200, not 210. But it's perfectly fine on the highway. I also have a cyl 2 misfire code popping up. I'm thinking about going back to a stock thermostat instead of a 180. It's the only thing that's not stock on the car. I need to figure this out before it has anymore issues though.

It's normal for it to creep up in town on a hot day until the fans turn on. You could lower your fan settings if you want to keep the temp down.

The cylinder 2 misfire is almost guaranteed to be unrelated. Always start with the basics, check the plug and wire.

If you run A/C you will see higher temps when not on the highway. 200 is normal with A/C on.

FWIW.......I also would guess that the cooling issue has to do with the set points of your fan turn-on's.......
