got a dtc 1000 code for a ecu. what the hell is an ecu?
|
P1000 is not actually a trouble code. It just means that the Readiness code has not been set yet or in other words, the engine computer hasn't completed testing certain emission control components. If there is no other problems with the car emission system, the code P1000 will disappear after driving for some time (the drive circle must include idling, stop and go traffic, acceleration and steady cruising).
They are all just a computer but there are many names for them...PCM (ours), ECU, ECM...
well thats stupid....ud figure a single tuners would give them a single name. i can see different companies calling them different names but the same company for the same vehicle is kinda stupid
Well every company has a name for something...
PCM = Performance Control Module
ECU = Electronic Control Unit
ECM = Electronic Control Module
Then when your talking import cars you get into stand-alone's, plug-n-play's, and piggyback's.
powertrain control module
It depends on what it does. In cars where there is a different module controlling the engine and a different one for the transmission, the engine one is the ECM/ECU and the transmission one it's the TCM. In our cars that uses one to control both, it's called the powertrain control module (PCM) since it has more responsibilities than the other modules.
Make sense?
