I noticed a leak coming from the hose that leads to the water pump. its on the left side of the motor right below the supercharger nose. anyone had this problem or suggestions? or how to fix or what else could possibly be wrong?

Is it underneath the water pump or above it. If its underneath, could be the weep hole on the water pump itself telling you that its about to go out. If its above, it could be a cracked coolant elbow.

WOW?????!!!!!! I"d really like to help...but do you drive???????!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ps, I love the exclaimtions/question marks.

If you have a 3.8, then it's the coolant elbows. There's a few write ups. Basics are pull alt, pull alt bracket (don't forget the bolt in the back taht you can't see) and presto $4 (Dorman 47065) fixes you up.

wow. Is it really that simple? I have the exact same leak on mine and located it with no issue, but just been adding coolant daily since I couldnt find out anything about that elbow. Thanks for the dorman number. Will go get it tomorrow and fix a month long problem!

Yeah...it is overall easy. First time, it's gonna seem like a legit repair. After that.. it's pull alternator, 3 more bolts, clean the old elbows out. Lube o-rings, slide them in..wiggle as you tighten and put alt back on.

Take a close look at the Dorman/Napa brands next to the OEM's. They were identical when I looked at them. Likely produced in the same factory. If you have problems with them leaking or failing... review the installation techniques. I've found there are ways to install them that make them fail and ways to install that give near 100% success.

You must have been doing something wrong...the Dorman elbows are the only ones anyone ever uses around here.

So I bought the elbow today, it comes with both elbows in the package. Now it just sucks since I just moved back to alaska i dont have my tools, need to see what i need to get the job done. I think its a 15mm on the tensioner to loosen belt, then 13mm on alt ? anybody know off hand? If so Id appreciate it. if not no biggie, just figure no harm in asking, its a 98gtp 3.8 s/c

The manifold hole gets pitted. I had to use rtv with new elbows.
