A/C problems

Im not sure whats the problem here. When i turn on the A/C it blows really cold out of the passenger side, and its just warm air towards the drivers side, and makes this awkward humming sound. Bad relay? or the whole blower motor needs replaced?

I remember reading about this somewhere but i can't remember what it said...

Sounds like the blend-air door is stuck or the actuator is just bad.

If that is not the case then that is a sign of you having low pressure in the system. Or that's what I've heard.

He is right throw a set of gauges on it and you will see that at 1500 rpm your pressure will be about 10-15 pounds. You will need a can of R134A to fix.

So if i recharge my system with that a/c can stuff it will fix it?

pretty sure the problem is under the dash. if your getting cold air on one side the a/c is prolly good, especially if it's a dual zone system. I would say the blend air door is stuck open on what ever side is blowing the hot air.

I am working on my ase cert in a/c and we were talking about this today. Your blend doors are probably not the problem because they just adjust how the air comes into the ducts in the dash from the heater core or evaporator. You can not tell how much refrigerant is in the system by pressure gauges. The pressure will change with changes in temp and humidity. Also the cans are almost worthless you have no idea how much refrigerant is in your system and they are not accurate with how much makes it in. I would personally take it to a shop with a a/c machine. They will suck all the old refrigerant and put your system into a vacuum then refill it with the correct amount. I think your system just might not have the correct charge in it, when they are not charged correctly they will do a whole bunch of weird things. And what ever you do DO NOT GET THE CAN WITH SEALANT IN IT!!!!!!!!!!! Sure it will stop the leak, but it will also clog up the tiny passages in your condenser. Also with the cans over filling it can grenade your compressor and send bits of metal into the rest of the system and completely ruin everything. I guess I would try to add a little with the can first. All tho I am contradicting my self it could solve your problem if you happen to get the right amount in. Look at the data sheet it is on the strut tower i believe. I think our systems are a 2.25 lb system. So you would take 2.25*16/12oz (most of the cans are 12oz ) That is to fill from completely empty tho. You have no way to legally evacuate the system. If you just let it shoot out into the air you will lose all the oil in the system. I do not know if some of those cans have oil in them or not. The oil capacity is 9 oz. Sorry for the scatter brained thoughts I just typed them as they came. In conclusion having a shop recharge your a/c is your best bet, but you can try the cans if you choose. Remember over charging can also make it not as efficient and possibly grenade the whole system. What ever you do NO SEALANT IN THE CANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i guess ill have to hold off on fixing it till i get a job, then have a shop do it. My front a/c heat exchanger is all banged up from rocks and what not, do u think im getting a leak in there?

Could be. AT the shop they can inject dye into the system to find the leak.

yup, its low...it fixed mine twice...now, i have to do it again once more...it only happens every two or three years to my car...

only one of the lines will discharge oil if cracked open...i believe its the high side, the low side will only purge air...i think that is what i ready years ago. but the low side is where you charge and discharge the system. good luck, but yes, this IS the problem with it not working on driver side, low pressures of the r134.

i forgot to mention, when i turn the a/c on it sounds like the compressor is making a god awful noise, and gets louder when i give it gas, anyone knows what this means?
