    Hey all--
I just bought an '04 four-door GTP yesterday with the 3.8 S/C engine. It's completely stock as of now. I know there is prob a million threads like this, but hey, what's one more... If I wanted to spend 1000-1500, what would everyone recommend as far as performance upgrades? What can I expect to add HP wise? thanks, appreciate the feedback!

You could do a pulley swap with supporting for that money. Plenty of info on that floating around.

headers, tune, autolite 104's, PRJ wires, 180* t-stat, custom fenderwell intake, 3.5" pulley, 1.84 roller rockers

That's what I would do with a grand or so, and should be good for 13's in the 1/4 on a nice day, track prepped good, etc.

sounds good. Do you think thats gonna have an adverse effect on the life on my tranny? This is a daily driver so I want to mod only to the point where im not going to cause probs... and would you necessarily upgrade in that order if I can't do it all at once?

oo ya, and where is everyone going to get these parts? local shops or internet? thanks guys

Well like bluegtp91 said. All that would make u quite a bit quicker. They've got stuff at zzperformance,pfyc.com,and 3800performance.com. Those r good. Also thrasher but I've never been on their site. Or it would b cheaper to get used stuff from people on here

To help your tranny, a good tune and a good shift kit (not a crappy one like ZZP) are great. That'll keep it shifting crisp and firm even at higher power levels which will prolong clutch life. All you have to worry about after that as you hit higher power levels is some of the hard parts.

Like a TransGo or Intense-Racing Shift Kit...and while your putting that in fill the tranny back up with Dexron VI, not IV...and put in a new GM tranny filter

For your transmission question, any extra stress on the tranny gonna shorten its life, definately. But it's not your mods that will cause a premature death, it's how you drive it. You can be an idiot and stress the crap outta your tranny, or you can drive wisely, take care of it, and you'll get a lot of extra life out of it (gotta have a little fun, though). Dexron VI tranny fluid is excellent, only use a GM filter, get a good shift kit, and don't have it flushed, it's safer that way unless the person knows what they're doing and they probably won't.

Do some research on how our tranny's work, seek to understand what makes them tick, and then you'll know how to prolong its life. There's a ton of info on here for you to digest.

Shift Kit, Dexvron VI, new GM Tranny Filter...that is all you NEED to really know until it starts to go out...then contact Dave @ Triple Edge Performance - Home Page

And you still won't need to know anything except how to put it in or have someone do it for ya that knows how to
