The NIC cam is a great cam if you don't want to waste a alot of money on other mods and you are GOOD at tuning IMO.

that would depend on your springs, retainers, heads, etc. Going to 1.7 ratio rockers will actually get you more lift than an XP cam, so you have to start worrying about head clearance.. Going to 1.8s would require some head work for sure.

just get a bigger cam. dont run a VS with rockers too. that is a waste of money.

get an IS3. that cam sounds AWESOME and it can be made to run with the best of them. youll need headwork though.

you can sell the rockers and make up about half the cost of what the cam costs. your rollers you could probably fetch $200 for easily. a good cam is only $350.

Zooomer is right about that you know (the over revving and smaller pulley part, not about destroying the M90). Taken straight from one of the most knowledgeable people on forced induction... Corky Bell.

Good reading if you want to see for yourself:

It's similar to how everyone bashes someone for throwing a smaller pulley on a stock car and expect it to be fast. Small pulleys do not equate faster cars. They just mean more boost which isn't necessarily a good thing. Does the term "boost stacking" mean anything to anyone?

Yeah but that is how a M90 makes power...by building pressure and forcing it down into the motor. Only reason you really get Boost Stack is if you can't get rid of the air fast enough...My Buddy had a 3.4" setup with a stock Downpipe...no KR, no idea...but anyways on a cold day he was pushing 17 pounds. You want boost stack go talk to him but I'd be afraid if you ever had a backfire through the top end with all of that extra boost :x

i wish people would stop saying "boost stacking". that term is all kinds of stupid.

either youre making too much boost or youre not. it's not like you can get "boost creep" or anything like a turbo car. i was making about 14 pounds of boost on my 3.4 setup last winter.

Well I just consider it not getting rid of the air fast enough...if there is any "stacking" it is in the exhaust system and it isn't getting out quick enough...

I agree that it doesn't really describe what's going on, but what term would you prefer?

Yeah, I remember when the entire community used to think that way. I kind of miss it, all of the carnage pics on ClubGP were kind of fun to laugh at!

It makes it by forcing it down, but building pressure is a side effect. If you can get the air in and out fast enough, you can make more power on the same pully by having no boost at all. That way your engine is able to eat up every last cubic inch of air the M90 is feeding it without any losses caused by building up pressure. These are early concepts described in that book I showed you.

Get over it. It's an official term used in the industry.

You know, I was thinking about that earlier, and if the engine would take enough to never build pressure in the LIM, wouldn't it run exactly the same without the blower?

If you had a completely open intake manifold. The blower functions to overcome any restrictions at the TB and intake and feed the cylinders as if the LIM wasn't even there. There are a lot of scenarios and examples that go over what you can do with setups like that. I'm surprised more people here haven't read that book...
