Well crap, there's just no lower cost alternative here is there. Did you see the core charge on the reman'd.
I wonder if the OEM alternator could be rebuilt for a higher output and what that option would cost.

That to me would be a better option. By a cheap OEM one or one that is fried and just have it rebuilt/rewound for higher output.
Scotty check out this place. Of course if you want to powdercoat or chrome local shop would be best.
Mr. Alternator They even have GP listed.
Crap, you got a link for everything dont ya Lee, LOL.
We all have to have our niche. I'm too strongly opinionated to give perspectives on certain things. Best just post a link and not tick anyone off.:D
There's nothing wrong with ticking someone off...builds character, confidence and makes you think harder. At least thats what I try to tell myself anyway.
yes thats my mockup/jig engine a junk 96 "straight rail" SII we rebuilt that blower (i have pics and most of a writup) and did copious amounts of porting to it it's the blower currently on the 442's front engine.
the 140amp was available on the riviera's and bonnies
here's what it looks like:
backside of the riv's unit...btw the 140 amp allows more room for high flow log fittings due to a relief in the rear of the case (seen here)

here's the front of it (for those that look closely yes thats a 4" tensioner pulley and a 2.5 inch grooved idler allowing for more belt wrap)

yes the PC1's did get the 125amp alternator but from whati can tell the heated seat luxo barges got the 140amp...
WOW. Thats a direct bolt on replacement?
yup
Outstanding. What year Rivera and Bonneville am I looking for. Now all I need is the smaller Impala brake booster and Id be set.
eric's 98 riviera has it and the L67 we got from a 99 bonnie had it but plenty of other years got it as well.
x2 on the Imp booster we swapped an 01 imp booster into the 94 442 (yeah even the 1st gens can use em...)
i have lots of pics of the 442's new booster HUGE size difference and all we had to do was swap the pedal pushrod over
I would LOVE to come visit you and just pick your brain for a day or two and bring a few notebooks with me and just keep my hand writing as you speak. Thank you for reminding me of the pedal pushrod, I would have forgotten about that, may yet if I dont write it down somewhere.
One of these days I'll be able to get around to a few people and just try my best to absorb what they have learned.
So the 98 Riv and 99 Bonnie 140 amp alternator will fit a 99 GTP? The reason I ask is that the mounting looks completely different.
the only part thats different is the SC to alternator brace and instead of the 8mm bolt used on the 105/125amp units (goes through the boss next to the snout) you use a 10mm bolt that threads into the bracket (the 8mm bolt goes through the threaded bracket and threads into the alternator ear on the 105/125)
edit yeah i think toasty's right about the 1st/2nd gen pushrods... ours measured 7/16ths shorter than the imp pushrod
I think Im going to have to find me one of those. You would think those would be more popular items and in the classifieds more with the number of people that have beefed up their sound systems.
thankfully not all are content with the status quo
or at least didnt keep the crayola inside the lines lol
Well, from that perspective, you are correct.
I'll perhaps hit up Ed Morad and see what he has.
