no really, i wish i would have gotten the guy's info, but a few years back when i used to work retail, a guy came in and was gathering parts for his own fuel rails-- was going to use hydraulic hoses and fittings. not sure what he was going to use for the actual rails though.
Impatient are we? The guy actually has some interesting insight to fuel rails and Im kinda eager to see what he comes up with.

i've got 2 sets of -10 and 2 sets of -8 rails ready to be tig'd, whats holding me back is finishing the jigs, to allow us to step up production.
i use my Clausing drill press and the bridgport mill for most of the machining
i do get to use my lathe with the -10 ultralite rails, but i'm still saving for the VFD and aloris CXA toolpost before its up and running...
I would LOVE to have a shop with a good end mill, lathe, band saw, drill press and maybe a couple other items. They dont have to be computer operated either, I can do the stuff by hand.
I would be an experimenting and fabricating fool I think.

Right now I'm going to be baising my rails off of a set of stockers (kinda like the modded stockers you can currently buy, but I want to put some in some effort to make them look nice & be safe & legal also). The cost for the ZZP & PRJ rails is a little excessive for what they are, plus with the ZZP rails I've heard numerous times that you've pretty much got to get an aeromotive FPR to replace the cheap one that comes with the rails (due to leakage). This is another reason why if I start with the stock rails I can still use the stock FPR.
Actually I'm not fond of how the ZZP rails have the braided line that still goes over the blower, I'd really prefer to run my lines under the blower snout. I was hoping to kill 2 birds with 1 stone & have a set of rails that look nicer than stock, help clean up the engine bay & also safer.
I've figured out how I'm going to build & connect the cross over line, but I'm still not sure exactly how I want to take care of the main & return lines, I'd like to eliminate the bad angles.
I'd like to try & get this set done for around $125 (with the lines & fittings). Right now I've got a little over $60 into it and I've got a set of stock rails, 10 feet of 6 an line, the line for the crossover (with 2 90 deg fittings).
Actually at this point if you have any pics of hte ZZP ro wbody store modded rails or the ZZP or PRJ billet ones I'd like to see them to give me an idea of where & how to route the new lines.
The rubber bushing stock VC bolts are removed for different bolts when installing the ZZP rails.
I've had the ZZP rails for a while now, and they work great, but I did have some early problems. They initially leaked at the input line connection and two of the injectors. I had to get a new connector, realign the rails and add some extra grease before they sealed tight. That was 6 months ago and they haven't leaked since. Then the FP gauge died, and I had to buy a replacement from Summit. For how much rails cost, they should be without these kinds of problems. I've had homemade rails on my truck for nearly 10 years without ever having a problem.
this was a jury-rig we did to get the whippledRiv running with the aeromotive FPR before i was done with the logs, if i'd spent a little more time i coulda made em look better but this arangment would work perfectly well with standard 45* SAE flares or weld-on/compression type an fittings.
and yes the hoseclamps held fine i did my usual grooving trick with my tubing cutter drove it like that for 10 days lol
I am glad you are here James. It is this kind of down to earth knowledge and expertise that I wanted to capture here. People that have been there done that so to speak and arent afraid to share what they have learned.
We have several people here like that and I must say it makes me proud to see the amount of information sharing and ideas being talked about here. I just want you all to know what a great community you all make this, everyone of you.

Ohhhh, you and I are alike I think in more ways that we may admit/realize. I love looking for that kind of stuff. I, very often, am watching for patterns in things. My step son hates this about me cause I find it comes in handy with hiim and I can catch on to things a little quicker than I think he would care for, LOL.
I guess we all have our strengths and weaknesses and I like to figure things out and have never been afraid of getting my hands dirty to do so either.
