I finally got the GTP back up and running after nearly 3 months of waiting and building. I'm pretty sure I can't safely run the 3.1 I ran before, since I now have a 9.5:1 CR. I'd like some ideas of where to get started on sizes while I'm breaking the motor in. 3.4 is what I had before the 3.1 and I'm considering going back to that size, but I'm not so sure that will be safe, either. Anyone out there have any experience with a similar setup as mine?

If you're just trying to break the motor in then I would use whatever pulley you can. Just not under a 3.0. And don't give it anything over 1/2 throttle and you should be fine. As for performance wise I would think you could run a 3.25 as long as you're tune is pretty decent considering the mods you have

Oh....Forgot to say.... ABOUT TIME THAT THING IS RUNNING!!

probably need an intercooler to run that, i sell them

i have an l36 bottom end also, it was alot easier finding them in good condition at the junkyard when i did mine, and it was cheap. i run a 3.4 right now, have headers, and as far as boost goes, im gonna need to throw my ic on if i want to go lower.

so i would say an intercooler would be a good next mod.

Go up to a 3.4 or even a 3.6 if you can. That higher CR is like having a few sizes smaller pulley.

the 3.4 should be fine for whatever youre doing. when you start out your tuning, just start out with running like 10* of timing WOT to make sure it doesnt knock.

I don't have any other modular pulleys, so I'll be buying whatever I decide to go with. I do have a buddy about a half hour away with a 3.4 he's willing to let me borrow for testing purposes, so I'll be testing with that later tonight.

I'm actually considering getting one of your intercoolers. I have a few bills to pay off, first.

Got some scanning/tuning done the other night with the 3.4 and with a 10*WOT timing, had no knock. I didn't have time to add timing and want to keep my heavy throttle driving at a minimum until the motor is broken in real good. I've already gone 200 miles with the 3.1 on it with no knock, but I've kept the throttle under 75%.

    Justin, you've got a PM.

good work. it always works out to start out with low timing and then work your way up once you have the fueling in check.

Well, as you can see in my mod list, I skipped out on the 42.5's I was originally intending on getting due to lack of funds. I may end up going with a larger pulley just to be safe fuel-wise, then dropping down when I get the bigger injectors.

youre good until at least a 3.2 with stock injectors, if not down to a 3.0 ish. just watch your IPWs. if they are anything near 22.xx WOT then youre getting close to static, but so long as it isnt knocking then who cares, right?
