So I replaced my blower motor with an OEM from GM today. Reconnected the battery but nothing happened. The system must have sensed something was different. Within a couple of minutes the fan started to run---Good news. All of a sudden, there was a puff of white smoke like something burned coming from the top vents at the center of the console. It was so fast. The "white" smoke quickly cleared. Temperature control and fan speeds work fine. Nothing seems out of the ordinary. Any comments or similar stories?

Just to add that the new blower motor is making a whining noise now at low speeds. I suspect that the new blower motor must be defective Go figure a GM OEM part...I ordered a replacement from GM. Let's see what happens next. It's a pain to replace.
