im a she...but anyways. I thought I was getting knock but after looking my intake seal was lose and I guess I was getting air being pulled in it that was causing it to brake up. Not sure but I fixed it and havent had a problem yet. Bio, I was thinking the same thing you was...with cam and headers the 3.4 should beable to breath VERY well. But I wasent wanting to drop that far with NO tune what so ever! So I picked up a 3.6 Im going to put the headers on and basic mods and run it and see what the aeroscan gauge says.
