So i plan on doing a Gen V top swap, most likely next month. Ive been reading and reading on how to do it blah blah blah...Anywayz I really don't want any KR at all on my fragile L36. Right now I have plog, 180* t-stat, zzp dp, slp catback, and a wizard. I will be upgrading to headers probably in the summer time, just got the plog for now so i can put on the gen v. Right now as it is I have really close to 0* KR except at around 4,000-5,000 i get as much as 4*, I think its just a blip but im not sure. I am pondering on buying this intercooler kit from zzp hoping that it would demolish all KR on my build. I guess the question is, what do you think? Anyone running the same interooler? Would it help a significant enough of an amount to spend $700? The idea is, i really don't want a chipped piston or worse.

Well technically if you are going to get a IC, I'd pass up the POS SSIC...they do nothing compared to a Stage 2...if you want the full effect that is...IMO

Same opinion here. I had the fullsize and was very happy with it. Wait for a used one and save a lot of money

why does everyone think the l36 block isnt as strong? its just as strong but will knock easier.

The pistons are weaker. Combating KR would be a big issue to me especially since I would be running a higher comp. ratio

the SSIC is not junk, i ran it on my M90'd L36 and it let me go from 11*of timing to 19* of timing.as for the L36 being weaker, no. the higher compression helps the blower work easier so you dont have to throw massive amounts of boost at it.once again it comes down to the tune. 99gt, you live in jersey, bring the car down to Tune Time and get a tune, im sure you will be pleased

Awesome, ive been looking for a place to bring my car...I really don't want to do it myself or take a chance with a vendor pcm.

Only thing different is pricing to be honest. To me it is half assing a IC install. Just save the extra money and get a Stage 2. Others will say what they want but in the end if you go with a Stage 2 you won't be disappointed and you might be left wanting more with the SS.

Ummm...Really? You're car savvy you of all people should know. Tell me how much easier it is to pop a GT piston with boost than a piston in a L67.

The piston top is a little thinner, but people pop pistons equally in both engines (once running boost). You never hear about a popped L36 piston outside of boost.
