How are you getting away with the 2.3, is it the heavy intercooling? Im fairly confident with the setup im going to have i can at least run a 2.5. IC, Meth, e85 and Cam, hopefully wont have a problem.

    Here's the plan.

This weekend the car goes to my dads house.Ill probably yank the heads off and take them to the machine shop to have the valve guides milled down. Once i have the 1.9 rockers and pushrods off im going to sell them on FB (maybe here) for like 150 -200. Use the money from those to buy some 3/8 pushrods from ZZP. I figure with the heavier springs, and the extremely high lift cam , i should go for the beefier pushrods.

I also plan to do APR head studs. Might do APR rocker bolts too. on that note, ill have to get me a set of rocker from the JY to replace my zzp ones. Ideally i want the heads and drivetrain to be as beefy as possible when the engine is back in the car. The only thing ill be missing is some nice roller rockers.

The engine is coming out of the car for the cam install, partly because my last attempt at a cam install didnt go well , and partly because i want to inspect the engine from top to bottom, clean it and paint it. (suggestions on colors for the paint are welcome)
Ive seen some steam coming out of the oil fill hole on the front valve cover (i didnt preserve the PCV function when i did the IC) So i want to make sure the piston walls, rings etc are all in good shape .

Got the heads off today, valves look alright. Im dropping them off at the machine shop tomorrow and im going to have them inspect the heads as well as milling the valve guides down.
After my dad spun his rod bearings, im thinking ill have the rods inspected too and see if they need to be re-conned. Ill probably throw some new clevite bearings on it regardless .

Hi folks, ive decided on turbo. Im waiting for Black friday to order the kit.

The engine is out of the car, and my heads are being ported for the xpz cam. Im planning to yank the rods and have them checked by the machine shop in case they need to be reconned. What im wondering is if i need to get the ring end gaps increased because ill be running even more boost/power. I dont plan to touch the crank, since removing the main caps torques the block.

if your gonna pull the pistons, may as well just build it. forged pistons better rods, shop time ect ect. other wise just let it eat.

Since the engine is already out of the car, its not really costing me much time to yank them out. And the machine shop will check em for free.

make sure you mark what piston and rod is what. and the direction they were in. they need to go back exactly how they came out.

Last time we did this, we used a punch to tap dots into the cap to signify which rod they were.
