On December 31st at 10:00 A.M. Corey, Tyler and myself started ripping into my car and got all the way down to the LIM and remove it (gasket was replaced before purchasing the car in June and had no leaks). I had purchased a ported LIM and a ported Supercharger and we put in a new LIM Felpro Gaskets. Installed the SSIC with two garlock gaskets one between the SSIC and LIM and one between SSIC and Supercharger. We also installed fuel logs with flow match 42.5 Lucis Fuel injectors and needed longer bolts to mount the fuel logs so that concluded our day on December 31st.

On January 5th, 2009, I arrived at Corey’s place around 6:00p.m. with longer bolts to mount the fuel logs. After mounting the fuel logs, I wrote a bin file to the PCM to adjust the fuel flow for the 42.5. After doing so, I proceeded to start the car; the car turned over very hard, but fired up but struggled to run. So I shut it off immediately, and fixed fuel leaks from the fuel logs. After checking everything over, I proceeded to check the oil and it was milky. After trying to pull the oil plug for 45min, because it was stripped in the oil pan hole, Corey and I finally got it out. I drained it and ran out of time that night to put new oil in. After a few phone calls that night, I proceeded to order from ZZP aluminum LIM Gaskets with GM adhesive.

On January 8th, 2009, I ran to Advanced Auto and got the cheapest oil and oil filter with an oil drain plug and two gallons of Anti-freeze and went home thinking about how all of this was going to turn out on January 9, 2009.

On January 9th, 2009, I received the aluminum LIM Gaskets from ZZP. After work I went to Corey’s place to hit it one last time. I installed the new LIM Gaskets and remounted everything I had. I had no fuel leaks and put my new oil and oil filter in my car. After checking everything out before starting my car; I started the car and seemed to run great for the first ten seconds and then started struggling again. I shut it off and checked the oil and once again it was milky. So I drained the oil again, this time it was milkier than before. After the huge disappointment, I drained it and put new oil with a new oil filter and topped off the Anti-freeze which took very little. I proceeded to start the car one last time, but still struggled. Still disappointed and out of time I left it for the night and called it a day

Do you guys have any ideas what the issue is? Is the LIM bad or am I missing something? This really blows and im getting really frustrated with it….Thanks in advance!

    PICS on January 5th, 2009

I dont know if it would make 'that' much of a difference, but did you use thread sealant on the LIM bolts?

first i was going to say head gaskets but then you said it never had a leak before this.
the only thing i can think of is maybe the wrong torque spec on the bolts or lim is warped some how? maybe the bolt holes have a little dirt in them causeing the bolt to reach its torque spec before the bolt is down all the way. other then that i have no idea. thats a lot of coolant in that oil though so somthings opened up pretty good!

good luck and try not to get frustrated

Did you use sealant on the bolts and seal up the places where the end and sides of the LIM gaskets meet? My GM service manual says there is a sequence to tighten down the LIM, but I could not find it. Make sure you have a good torque wrench as well. I will continue to look to see if I can find that sequence.

Hmmm...just a guess. The LIM was not installed properly and the SSIC hoses are not on properly and it is sending coolant into the LIM which is leaking. Just a guess here. I know the first time I installed my SSIC the hoses was installed properly.

My service manual has the tightening sequence for the heads, but i cant find the sequence for the LIM and it even says to refer to it??? I dont know why it is just not there with the install steps. Was the SSIC new? It may be leaking somehow back into the intake.

your lower intake is the culprit. you dont have the holes sealed up,the yellow orings so the coolant is seeping back into the crankcase. also dont run the garlock gasket on the bottom of the SSIC, that is where your vacuum leak is coming from. ZZP puts a GenV bottom and Gen3 top on the SSIC. the bottom is a 1/2'' longer and doesnt seal on the gasket. use a bead of RTV around the core on the bottom, then around the PCV holes and coolant holes. also run a breather now because the PCV does not function with the SSIC. i had these problems on my car and i had no support from ZZP. i hope this helps man let me know if you need anything else-Nick

I found the sequence for a lower intake manifold on a GT. It has 12 bolts tightened to 11 lb ft. Is there 12 bolts on a L67 LIM? If it does the sequence would be the same I would imagine. Also, make sure the coolant bypass tube is aligned and the two o-rings are in place. ^^^^No customer support, imagine that!!!!!!They do need to work on that and their instructions.

if you look between 2 and 4... there is a hole. that is 5.

I normally start in the center, and work my way out for a good seal....

I would slap your old LIM on, and see if you have any change...

from what it sounds like.... th only thing you have changed is the LIM, and gaskets.

I have heard not to use the garlocks as they do not seal.

you have 2 options. change out the gaskets.... or put your stock LIM back on for diagnosing purposes...

I would check the bolts a few times just to be sure they are torqued properly
