Anyone familiar with these codes? I just finished the cam install, rebuilt trans, and installed an Overkill tune. Car is an 03, trans and tune are 01 which could be the issue but I have talked with Intense Racing and TEP about these codes and they cant really figure it out. It could be the 01 tune for the 03, or it could be the wiring harness/ trans difference. But oddly enough the car runs excellent. I was hoping someone on here would have a different insite into those codes. Of course I cant get a hold of Overkill. The next step I will take is see if an 03 tune will run the trans (TEP says it should) and if so I will just get a new tune. Absolute worse case is I change the trans but I would rather not obviously. On a side note I also got P0300 a day later which I assume is for the cam, but I thought Overkill would have removed that in the tune.

it is always helpful if you list the names of the codes with them.

    Try this for the 650

1630 says it's vats learning active. Could be from the tune or you need to try a relearn on the key.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

that 650 means the cel does not light up. turn your key to run, not started, you see it lit up? if not the bulb could be blown. or a bad connection to the cluster.

I read that somewhere else too, but the cel does light up. When I first installed the PCM I had to do a key relearn, then started and no cel. After a key cycle or two it lit up and I pulled those codes. Then P0300 showed up but I'm not really concerned with that one because if the cam. I'm going to pull codes again tomorrow to see if anything has changed.

got the stock pcm still? if so put it back in, see if the codes come back. some times the pcm is bad and can cause odd codes to pop up.

the 01 and 03 years might not play well. might be the issue as well.

it would be lumped in with something else. You'd want the wiring diagrams..if it wasn't lighting up like you said it does. So that's not the issue. Most likely the pcm being programmed with a different year from say bcm etc.. is not seeing the correct information coming back to it.

Seems that you are having other issues with the cam and p0300 that should have been removed. Personally, I'd remove the codes and smile as long as everything else is working well.

I cleared the codes and they come back. I am hoping a new pcm will fix the issue but i first have to see if the stock 03 pcm will run the trans, hopefully it will and if so then i can just get a new pcm programmed. If it doesnt then I have a whole other problem

Removing the codes means they wouldn't show up again. Clearing is merely clearing and they would be expected to come back

Rereading your first post the car is an 03 with a cam and 01 trans. This is going to pose a problem trying to run it on an 03 pcm. 2003 transmissions are an odd one. They can't directly swap into anything but an 03. Same goes with trying to put a different year trans into your car. This is likely why your pcm needed to be an 01. I believe the best route for you would be to remove the few codes and smile.

    **UPDATE**
Installed the factory 03 PCM and car runs fine, no codes so far. The PCM seems to control the 01 trans just fine so that was a little unexpected, although TEP mentioned it should. So that basically means the Overkill PCM was bad, or using an 01 PCM was bad in an 03 car, although Overkill said it should be fine. John at Intense said those codes usually indicate a bad PCM so I'm going with that. Too bad I can't get a hold of Will at Overkill. My next step then is to order a tune from John.
