Oil Pressure Sender

So after a painful weekend swapping out the lower intake manifold gaskets it was a relief to have the car leak free. Until today, not even 48-hours later. My son left for work and I headed out soon after. There was a Valdez-sized puddle of oil where his car had been sitting. Thankfully he works 1/4 mile away. I brought him my truck and brought the car home. When I removed the tire I could see oil pouring out of the connector for the oil pressure sender. I've never seen one fail this way. Actually, I've never seen one fail. It's ridiculous.

It was an easy fix but my patience is wearing thin with this thing. The new ignition wiring harness will arrive tomorrow so we can restore full electrical functionality.

common bs item. i killed 3 of em. all leaked sooner or later again. i then used a brass plug and called it good. now ive got a oil pressure gauge sender installed there.

the new one will have sealant on the treads, note the threads are tapered, stop when the sender is threaded into the sealant on threads. if you go to deep you will crack the housing.


and i used channel locks on the damn thing. a wrench or socket is a fight, and not worth the time.

I was able to get a socket and a wobble extension in there along with a pneumatic 3/8" drive (no need for swing room). I noticed the original was just a hair above finger-tight so I did the new one the same way. Not sure how long it was leaking but the axle shaft slings it everywhere so it's hard to tell.
