the car might feel the same because it had kr stock from the factory
I hit my MAF with some carb cleaner and finally found and sealed my last tiny exhaust leak and the car seems much happier. I did 5 or 6 WOT runs, and of them, 2 registered ZERO KR and the others were mostly between .8 and 1.8 with one spike to 3* when downshifting. These numbers seem way more manageable and maybe I can kick that last 1 or 2* with a ZZP throttle body?
I am guessing that your 2 runs with kr were your last 2 runs? the supercharger on these car's get hot, and then you start having predetonation. the zzp throttle body will lean out your fuel trims because there will be more air flow, can't say if it will help your kr, but probably not because there will be more air flow, so more boost and more heat.
Reviving this thread....I never saw more than 1-2* of KR with basically the same mods as the OP, but have started to notice 5-6* of KR at WOT. KR stays at 0* anywhere below 50% throttle, but it shoots up when you get into it. Could the O2 sensor be the culprit? If I added a cam would I need other mods as well?
i'm not sure if the O2 sensor could be the culprit, but it could cause issues if it doesn't switch very fast. you can scan for O2 sensor values on your aeroforce, and you will know it's good if it changes numbers pretty fast. it ranges from like 0 to 1000, and will do so pretty quick. if it sits at like 450, then it might be dead.
as far as a cam, depending on which one you get you might need some supporting mods. a VS cam is the most basic and requires the fewest supporting mods.
your exhaust would likely be ok witha cam, so new klifters and a cam install. then you'd also likely need some extra tuning on your pcm. the zzp one is only so good as a 1.0 that im sure you have. but LI there seem to be a load of guys who tune.
i bad o2 can for sure cause kr. it was killing me for a while, wot it should hit 930 give or take, mine was at .087 wot, and i had knock all over. new o2 kr went away. see i was kr free, then i just started. so i had to figure that one out via a scan.
So I set the Aeroforce to monitor o2 sensor voltage and it runs from like 50 to 987. whether at idle or running it's like a random number display that changes probably 3-4 tomes per second. I did one WOT run and it stayed up around 980-ish.
980 at wot means nothing other than it's richening up. You need to get a wideband on it.
What tune are you running? Most of the canned tunes have timing advanced too far.
Not entirely sure, mods were done by the PO. I need to find a place to get it tuned.
*KR SOLVED* !! Turned out it was a vacuum issue. The vacuum nipple on the SC right under the snout is slightly larger than the standard 1/8 fittings you get in the auto parts store. You can push a connector on to the nipple, but it gets overstretched and cracks after it heats up and dries out. I ordered GM vacuum harness #24508742 and that seemed to solve the problem.
The other issue with the tune running rich was the K&N intake....I hadn't cleaned it in the almost 3 yrs I've owned the car. Now with a clean air filter and tight vacuum lines, I can go to redline in 2nd with KR at *ZERO*
