    I'm an active member of some facebook groups, and after some conversation, I decided to head over to the gas station, and top off my tank with e85. Using a calculator, I was able to figure out I was running roughly a 30% mixture of ethanol. This is what I wanted. Running a little rich as it is, I figured this would lean me out a little bit, while reducing the stock KR on these engines.

    Currently my car is completely stock. And I will be getting a scanner this weekend to see my AFR, Timing, and KR (old android broke on me). I couldn't find much info on running a mixture on an all stock (3800) car, so it'll be interesting to see what comes out of this.

    *Note* My car isn't tuned for this AT ALL. I know the risks involved, but I wanted to see if there was any benefits at all to running a slight mixture, in hopes to reduce KR. *Note*

    You really need a tuner, an ethanol content thingamajigger will help you actually calculate what your ethanol level is. With the ethanol you are going to lean out your fuel, maybe you'll be ok at a 30% ethanol content

    As stated, I used a calculator. I didn't clarify, but it was an ethanol content calculator. I believe it was precisely 31% ethanol. So technically, it was e31 but e30 sounded better.

    if you want to you can just install 42 lb injectors and fill up with straight e85. with no tune at all. if your al stock, maybe a 3.4 pulley can be done. but no more.

    if you plan to mod it, you need 60 lb injectors and a tuner, then you'll just be smiling ear to ear every time you sit in it lol

    I plan on doing this after Darryl's big meetup this year. Grabbing some injectors, dropping a pulley, and being done with it. I don't wanna go further than a 3.4, due to tranny reasons, and not wanting to have to shell out just yet. I am aware of all the benefits of e85. Believe me, I've read every major thread involving it and the 3800.

    you could not install headers too on a 3.4 with the 42's on full corn. i bet that feels damn good. a little tuning goes a long way tho. trans tunes wake em up, then theres some cold start tuning for when its cold out.

    tranns hate life when its only got a stock engine on it. expect the worst and your never let down when it blows up lol ive lost two trannys so far. its a crappy club but killing a tranny is a right of passage with these cars.

    Kinda wanted to save up for a built trans before doing any real work to the car. Whatever $$ I make this summer is going into a TEP tranny. Mine currently runs flawlessly, with just shy of 100k on her. That's why I'm weary of doing many power mods.

    Just a FYI, the scanner you get or use will only tell you a commanded AFR and not actual AFR.

    Figure it's going to say roughly 10.7 to 11.2ish depending on how long you are in the throttle, it gets richer the longer you stay in the gas.

    Here is a screen shot of the tables with HP Tuners. It's for a 2005 GTP but it's super similar to the 97-03 cars, I just don't have a screen shot handy at the moment.

    There is a base AFR of 12.4 but then the ADD VS RPM table shows how much fuel is added over time and as the RPM rise.

    You can see it gets fairly rich after about 6-8 seconds. This can vary slightly and the real AFR should be close to that depending on air temps, air density, engine health etc etc etc.
