So my car started idling rougher today,it does it sometimes but goes away so I took off in it and my service engine light came on,I came back home and hooked my scanner up and threw the p0171 code, discovered I had the vacuum line coming from the throttle area to the thing on top behind the supercharger, the one that runs to the gas tank, well I fixed the line and cleared the code,I did it with the car running and it died after it cleared, now won't start back,I don't think the vacuum line was the problem, any ideas? 98 grand prix

That's the code for running lean. You may need to reset your fuel trims if you'd been running lean for so long.

resetting the pcm and letting the trims learn again wont do jack. its got a vac leak.

can of carb cleaner, spray the top of the engine down the tb its gasket, the vac lines, all sensors. if the spray hits a leak the idle will jump up. then you know where its coming from.

I've only found 1,I can't do the carb cleaner trick cause the car won't run for about 3 seconds,I'm hoping it's my maf sensor,im about to take it off and clean it

unplug the maf, then fire the car up, see if it runs longer, or if you can keep it running by working the gas pedal.

check fuel pressure too, and the high speed relay bypass if this is a gtp 97-00.

i got the car running,i had a extra ecm and I put it in and it fired right up,only issue with it is it has a permanent code p1573 and I think thats for the abs sensor from the other car, but its running and the p0171 code didn't come back but the service engine light came back on and got 2 codes p0131 and p0137,cleared them and they came back but no sel this time, cleared them and it ran for awhile and hasn't returned yet but my mpg seems a little low, idling for probably 45 mins give or take a little it said 10.1 mpg, it isn't running lean now, long was 16.4 then 10.9 and now 5,not sure what to check now
