now im pretty sure everybody is aware of zzp and has been on there website b4,now my question is why is everybody going the hard way pulling parts off of gtp's to do a top swap instead of ordering the ssm90 kit? is there something I don't know about this kit and I shouldn't get it lol or what? and does anybody have the link on how 2 install the cam without removing the engine?

I prefer to go with the top swap because it'll give me the chance to freshen up the top end of the motor. Heads cleaned, valve job, flatness checked, checked for cracks, etc. I wasn't fond of being stuck with their proprietary porting work or their fuel logs either. I like my options open.

ZZP's kit is good if you plan on keeping that setup. Replacing everything from the heads up is just a different route. If replacing the whole top end you have more room for improvment Gen V supercharger, heads, bigger more aggresive cams with a higher lift, different intercooler setups, and so on.

I do have a how-to from another site on doing a cam, i just have to look for it.

Exactly..... the bonus of doing a top swap as apposed to a SS M90 kit, is that all series II/III supercharged 3800 mods are compatible with your engine, the only difference between the L67 and the L36 once it is top swapped is the pistons and rods, so all fuel rails, ported mainfolds and various other mods that cannot fit on the SS M90 kit can be used if you top swap.......

P.S. I spent less on the whole top of an L67 (heads up, including Supercharger, TB and sensors) than ZZP charges for their fuel rails

Morad Auto sells full top swap kits I think you still need to buy gaskets and fluids, but they include all the hard parts.....

A SS m90 kit with a 3.4 and an intercooler probably costs a little less than $2500, a top swap, tuner, intercooler and pulley probably costs $2000 - $2200, so cost isn't that big of a difference(the top swap could be done real cheap if you get good deals on parts and such)

It really comes down to personal preference, and if you ever want to go further than the ss m90 will let you

The way I decided... if you can get a fresh top end out of the deal for roughly the same price (if not a little cheaper), plus have the chance to do springs without dropping a valve, why not? It's like having a new engine with a new and clean top end.

for someone that doesnt know much about this platform that is one hell of a list. good luck finding someone that can tune the NIC without you buying a wideband.

its the best way to watch your cars air fuel ratio. the NIC has so much overlap that tuning with a narrowband (what is on the car stock) is nearly impossible. you need a wideband so you can properly lean it out.

you have to buy a wideband gauge setup seperately and use it to help you tune. it does nothing besides tell you the true AFR you are running.
