My 2001 gt is having issues with stalling. I'll crank it and it will run for about 2-3 seconds then stall. It stalls out 2 times then on the third time it stays running. It usually does it on cold starts but does do it after it's been running as well. It also idles rough sometimes(because it's misfiring). It put a CEL on so I hooked up a scan tool and if was giving codes for random misfires and O2 issues. So naturally I tested the O2 sensors. Both O2 sensors were working fine (both reading rich, lean, rich, lean, as they should). So then I just followed usual diagnosis procedure, and tested for for fuel. Getting proper fuel pressure. So I don't really know what it could be. I have read that it could be a MAF sensor, fuel pressure regulator, or crank sensor. These all sounds possible but I'm not sure. I don't think It's the MAF because I recently replaced it because that was my first thought before I even pulled codes or anything. So maybe I bought a dud? Or maybe that's not the issue. I'm also having transmission issues. When i first start it up it struggles to get out of first and then when it finally does it slams really hard into second and sometimes even sends my tires squealing. I don't know if these are somehow related(doubtful) but I thought I'd ask. The car has 196000 and this started around September. And has only gotten worse. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Maybe remove and clean the throttle body as the engine facing side is probably all carboned up by now, and the IAC valve. Since you have a P0300 code have you replaced the plugs/wires? Only use irridium or copper plugs in these motors, not platinum. This could also be the ICM acting up. Crank sensor usually shows up as a stall while driving, with the tach dropping to 0 before it shuts down. Have you ever changed the fuel filter?

Might also want to check for vacuum leaks.

i have many of the same issues with my car. First id check for vacuum leak. I do a easy smoke test with cigar. just take off air filter at TB, cover with rubber glove and take off hose at brake booster and blow smoke. its a easy fast test then can help find those hard to find leaks. or spray carb clean everywhere. i still have yet to try that method. mainly because i heard it starts fires.

Well I appreciate the replies and advice but unfortunately I was involved in a horrible accident yesterday and won't be needing to fix this issue anymore considering the fact that my car is totaled! I'm lucky to be alive really. Some old man who shouldn't be driving ran a stop sign and t-boned me on the passenger side, causing me to do a 180 and smack a tree which completely crumpled the car.

Hate to hear that your ride got wasted. Trust me, theres plenty more like it. If nothing else, they are a good car for walking away from without a scratch. I rolled an 02 GTP and my biggest immediate concern after exiting the wreckage was where the hell did my drive-thru burritos go? I wu hongry! Cop thought I was nuts running around looking for food with my car upside down but no point in crying over spilled milk. I still had use for the chow lol. He actually located the bag for me, and looked at me like I was a little less crazy then.

I'm betting you were wearing your seat belt or the story would be different. Maybe its a good thing the tree stopped you instead of something else. Lay low for a couple days until you can tell if you'll be sore or what. ANY tiny injury HAS to be documented by a doctor visit or to an insurance co or it didn't happen.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

Well, that's one way to fix it, lol.. Good to hear you're ok. Def. keep track of your pains and aches. You may feel good today, but give it a few days. Hopefully you went to get checked out at the hospital. And fix your pics, I'd like to see what became of this GP.

And @ IDJ - Keep the shiny side up on this one Those must have been one heck of a burrito. I could see why the cop would be like wtf?

I know that look too. When my wife wrecked our 95 T-bird, by the time I got to the scene she was all good getting checked out in the ambulance. I knew she was ok since that MN12 is such a tough car. She was more worried about the car and what I was gonna say, lol.. Cop thought we were nuts. Even after all the damage she caused I check it over underhood, popped the trunk and reset the fuel shutoff. Fired right up and drove onto the flatbed. Even the towtruck driver was impressed. Had it not put a pinhole in the rad I could have drove it home.
