Alternator?
check it with a multimeter
Did the tach drop to zero before it died? If so probably the crankshaft position sensor. And no, it won't throw a code usually.
Hardest part will be breaking the crank bolt loose (i use a good 1/2" breaker bar w/cheater pipe, and vice grips on the flexplate), also need a harmonic balancer puller from autozone. Search to find the details, but its not too hard, maybe 1.5 hour job.
Or just do the ol starter trick to crack the HB bolt loose.

FYI, the balancer puller you get will not have the correct bolts for these HB's. You need to buy the correct ones. I know the specs are around here for them.
And for the love of god, please be sure to line up the keyway on the HB with the key on the crankshaft BEFORE you hammer the crank bolt back in or you WILL have issues.
Do you have the little cone shaped thing at the end of the remover? If so, take it off. It's probably not sitting on the end of the crankshaft like it needs to be.
What is stuck? The cone shaped piece? Grab some pliers and see if you can get it that way. Or try smacking one edge of it and see if it pops loose out of the balancer.
