My 08 Pontiac grand prix has no fuel filter and i would like to add one so that any debris is caught in the filter and not my injectors. I cant see the sock over the pump doing more than a filter would.Does this sound like a good idea or not?? I reremember my 03 delta 88 fuel filter used to be extremely dirty, any suggestions would b great thanks...

I thought they had an internal filter, but I've never held a 05+ fuel pump in my hands before.

I wonder if one is in the fuel bucket/canister.

I'm sure you could add one, but it would be a custom thing and you'd have to put it down by the LR unibody frame rail where the fuel lines go.

Can you add one in the engine bay where the lines go into the rail?

I dont think there's enough room. But i was thinking would it decrease my fuel pressure. As ffdp said there is a permanent filter in tank but by now it must filthy as heck.

It's supposed to have a lifetime non-serviceable filter in the tank.

An external filter shouldn't be that hard to add if you really wanted it. I am envisioning something like that filter on my Stealth. The filter bolts to the firewall and uses banjo bolts to attach the fuel lines.

Filter is in the tank. Gotta drop it. 04 is the only year 04+ that had an external filter.
