Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something
The difference between an L26 and L36 is the extra notch (i believe for the PCV system) on the side. The L36 has it and the L26 does not. I'll take a pic of my L26 in my attic when I get home. I do know mine is red.

Well if you look at the picture, especially the first one, you'll see the sides are a little skinnier

You hack the top of the runners off.
Glue them back together after cutting them down to an inch or so in height.
The end.
Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something
Oh okay thanks blue. blue you stilt in the kc area?
Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something
Could someone make a write up for those (like myself) that are not confident enough to do something like this without some direction?
Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something
Yeah, I just looked at one I have sitting in my garage, and "gluing it back" has me confused lol.
Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something
You just need to remove some runner material, thereby decreasing their height. Take the tops and glue them back onto the bottom of the runner piece. And boom, custom HV3.
Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something
Should I take my HV3 out and sell it?

Well you already paid for it and went through the work so just leave it in there until you are ready to move on
Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something
I wouldn't get rid of one if I had one...
But I'd also not go out of my way to buy one either.

I noticed no difference between the DIY to the ZZP version...and I honestly noticed only a smidge better top end by putting the insert in there vs. not even running one.
DIY hv3? youve got my undivided attention mate. :th_question1:
Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something

What hasn't been explained?
Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something
Well I can hack 1 inch off the top. ok and done? Won't it sit too far up in the intake now?
And this I don't understand

So cut the piece off and glue it back? lol
Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something
When you cut off the runners, you trim them down so they are shorter. Then glue the shorter pieces back on.
Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something
So I was just browsing for something on ZZP and happened to see that the HV3 is now $150 instead of $200. Crazy
Re: HV3 Knowledge - Let's learn something
I don't understand the gluing part. To make my own I will have to glue something I'm putting back in my engine?
