What are your goals? If you are hell bent on NA most power, go read the internet until your eyes bleed on all the 3800 forums you can find. You likely will come up with tons of dollars spent for gains that could be had cheaper/easier on different options like turbo/SC.
I'm not going to sit here and tell you that the car sounds bad based on you straight piping it. My Regal with GTP catback (no res, high flow cat) sounds amazingly fine even on the throttle. It's an oddball. Most 3800's with any exhaust mods (and stock) sound like crap. They have rasp and drone. Your's might be an oddball too.
Many will tell you to turbo or top swap etc. Personally, I've learned a ton from this platform....and broken more than I like to admit. That's expensive and at the end of the day I gave up on the platform and sold off the performance stuff. There are many other cars that handle/make power better than the 3800/4T65 combo. That's not saying it doesn't do well for the mass produced setup that it is.

No it doesn't.

I can't agree more. I've done a NA 3800 build...ported heads, cam, rockers, headers, exhaust...it was quicker than stock, but nothing drastic. You're going to be spending a ton of cash just in one-off parts like high compression pistons plus TONS of machine work if you actually plan to make anything decent. Plus, there will come a point where you'll hit a ceiling and no more power gains will be left on the table and you'll be uber modded to the point where you'll have to find a different block or swap the rotating assembly just so you can ultimately go forced induction to get the power you wanted to be at in the first place. I'm all for being different, but where do you really want to end up?

Yepp if you wanna stay NA like bill and a few others. Then put money into your suspension and have fun tossing it into some corners. I'm considering auto x my car
Re: Help me Build the fastest N/A 3800! Will keep updated
I have diy intake, hv3 insert, headers,91 octane tune. And I can keep up with stock gtps and I'm happy with that but it's all what your looking for hp wise.I had a top swap but decided against it because all the top swap issues. if I want to be fast I'll buy a fast car lol

Re: Help me Build the fastest N/A 3800! Will keep updated
Skip all that n/a crap and just topsaap or turbo and make more power then what your going to end up with.
Re: Help me Build the fastest N/A 3800! Will keep updated
Honestly if it was me I'd drive the n/a stock till I could afford a turbo and tep
Re: Help me Build the fastest N/A 3800! Will keep updated
Or just topswap because it can be done for cheap!

I would probably top swap. It's gonna be more reliable in the long run cheaper and can easily with a few bolt ons and a tune out smack the fastest NA

Whoaaaaa ... Learn your cars buddy. I have a Regal GS. GS means... Granny's (FAWKIN) Supercharged I went NA when a whore left -$300 in my bank account and the choice was $300 for an NA with 50K or $700 for SC with billion miles.

Nope.
It'd make maybe 200-230 WHP. But the torque curve would be so much better that it'd be worth it.
Throw an intercooler or E85 into the mix and you'd surpass any N/A record with ease.
