So I blew my engine in my car and my parents wont let me top swap (dont even say it) So I want to build a decently powered l36 n/a. Im getting a l36 from the jy and gonna go threw it all and refresh it all and make sure its perfect and ready to go in. I want to throw in a decent cam and heard the gt1 is a good cam for stock valve train. I have a 2.5dp and zzp hv3, cai ext. I was wondering if the gt1 is what its cracked up to be. Thanks for all the help. Want to make a decently peppy l36.

not too keen on n/a cams but headers, stage 1 cam, and an awesome tune should get you where you want.....OR huge came and beefy valve train... OOOORRRR turbo it and rear mount the turbo so the parents cant see it!

For dd purposes id go 1.9 rockers. Youd have normal idle yet increased in/out flow

Buy a l67 and drop it in. Its not top swapping just motor swapping then. L36 and pep I dont think go together. I wouldn't waste money on a cam for an N/A might as well top swap, you say you cant but whats the difference between putting in a cam and top swap in your parents eyes.

Why are they so worried about you top swapping or having an S/C on the car? Its a Grand Prix not like a Trans Am or Camaro lol. Like I said, I don't see the gains being worth it I would just keep what you have and call it a day. Also how do you plan on them not knowing about the cam? Having it sent to another address then put in by someone else?

    First good post.

    Top swap

    Or

    Turbo

    Or

    L67 swap.

    End of good power options.

Ok here's a fair and honest answer.

Brandon has a GT1 cam and you can still hear it.
Your dad (or you, point is moot) has a Camaro right? He will tell it has a cam.
