Just finished installing another 3.8l series 2 engine into my 1997 Grand Prix GT and for the life of me cannot figure out where this connector goes.

She started up first try but the cooling fans are not coming at all. Hoping this connector may be the culprit.
Checked fuses and relays all are good, havent jumped fan motor yet.

another picture of the connector, it runs off the alternator bundle and only has about 5 inches of lead.

Might be for the air pump (Cali emissions). Most cars have an unused plug back there.

If you turn on the A/C the fans should come on. That would at least let you know they work. If you are just sitting and idling waiting for the fans it takes some time as the turn on point is around 212* IIRC.

I tried that and unfortunately they did not come on either. I also tried disconnecting the temperature sensor under the thermostat to command them on. Thats good news about the connector unfortunately I have some troubleshooting to do lol.

I'm thinking the fans haven't worked for some time. GF over heated car many times a little over a year ago and cracked Bank 1 Head. Maybe these fans were the issue the whole time.
