Well my baby needed shocks for the longest since i feel like im getting taller every time im next to her. Anyway, we just had this winter storm in nj. Long story short....there's a snap where the ubend meets the cat. Pepboys (ughh) are charging me $987! HELPPPP!!!!

got a pic? sounds like the 2 rubber hangers broke off and then the 2 bolts snapped that hold the cat back to the cat.

a new gasket costs like 8 bucks, and 2 new bolts and nuts cost like a buck. those rubber hangers, you want the round ones, they run a few bucks each, you need 2.

Sounds like his downpipe broke at the cat. They are ripping him off with over inflated pricing.

Go visit an exhaust shop. See if it is repairable. Some will just add in new pipe to where it broke and just "patch" with a small section of new.

Yea depending on how rusted the flanges are, you should be able to remove the old bolts and put a new gasket and bolts on. They must have quoted you a new cat and downpipe.

Just saw the pic. Your going to have to have a new flange welded on as well. Thats only like $35 more.

wow first time ive seen the flange rust off both sides.

any muffler shop can fit that with some straight pipe.

I could fix that at my shop if you were local for less than $50 including labor. I have customer's that want to be cheap and just remove the flange and put pipe in. If you wanted the flanges it will cost more but easier to remove. I found them for like $20 ea (Napa) and weld them on if the pipe isn't rotted out too bad.

How much did they charge you? That's the same cheap repair I was talking about. I would have removed the "u" for you but at least its fixed.
