I have a 2005 base Grand Prix 3.8l N/A with non-variable steering. So my steering rack "does not" have a electronic cord coming from it.

My question is, would a 06-08 Non-Variable steering rack (with out electronic cord) be compatible with my 05?

    Thanks.

    it should work just fine.

you can look up each years part number and see if they are the same, that will tell you for sure.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

Is variable steering an option in itself, separate from Magnasteer? I used to think only Magnasteer included models had variable power steering, but during my one incident of my wheel speed sensor wire getting kinked, I didn't just get the ABS and TCS off messages, I also got variable rate steering disabled. In addition, the wheel was much tighter at lower speeds. Very confusing.

Like Scottydogs said, part numbers will let you know for sure, either use Rock Auto or gmpartsdirect.

I did compare stock number on Rock Auto and see that some are the same for 05 and 06-08.

To be sure I will call the dealer and see if they can provide any info and to confirm.
